5 Most Underrated Guitar Players of all time
hardheartedbill replied to JohnnyFeedback's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Barnes is a great player, but IMO Ed DeGenaro is THE best unkown player around, he also plays a Hamer P-90 special on the occasional blue moon, Ed's really something special -

now your just being crazy! LOL -
check out the new Digietech pedals, well made and reasonable, I think they have a fuzz w/ multiple tones built in, ZVex is great but screw an expensive fuzz ( for me anyway )

I'm installing Voodoo P90s tonight!

I run tuner-wah-OD-distortion-delay-amp. I used to run my amp dirty and boost it w/ an OD, in this setup my amp is cleanish so the distortion ( a Barber Direct Drive ) is acting as the amp in my old rig. I have found the perfect balance bewteeen the Barber and Maxon 808, I can use either or both at once for 4 flavors of dirt, I'm very happy w/ this setup. I find that the right amount of gain is the crucial step in coping cover tones, the phase and all that is way secondary to the right amount of gain. I wish I had been using this setup on the BBD CD, it's just a little tighter sounding

Lockbody nailed it, you spend all your time building a Priest replica and post crap like this to get a rise outta people? pathetic. you wanna defend a guys pop song and denegrate his frickin life? we have gay members , africian american members , redneck members, burly italian guy members really really short members ( at least 2 ) and we all manange to get along and respect our differences, the one thing we dont need is an ass, we have Poes and ones enough -

I blame Austin, he needs to sell me that alnico pickup to make amends -
your moving to Texas w/o any tube amps? thats a bold move my friend!
-
yeah, maybe I'll scoot down the hill, day gig?
-
I'll admit I love tubes as well, but when the tube fell out of Brooks Rambler I laughed, cause I bought a TM60 the day after my Mesa went down on a gig ( it only happened once in 6 years of play ) the tube amps can make you want to fling out of the van sometimes, and I gigged for years w/ a SS rig in my hard rock days, people would shit when they saw my rig, but they shit when they saw Ty Tabors old Lab Series rig, you can make anything sound cool, playing really cool notes is the first step LOL. I do prefer analog SS to the modelers, find an old ART Power Plant and rock like crazy!

I thought it was gonna be lefty Newport sized Mirage from hell again edited to ask Mike Lee when he's gonna finally cop to ordering that big lefty Mirage!

I can abuse rotary sim like crazy, I have a H&K rotoshpere that I'll use on every tune for 3 months and then quit using it for 3 months LOL -

the only real FX are the wah and trem, the delay is one all the time as a reverbesqu EJ kinda thing, you can barely hear it and play any rythmic figure you like and it's wont bother you, analog of course I'm using 2 OD boxes, the maxon for bluesy tones, the Barber for Marshalleque stuff and both for lead or hard rock/metalish sounds, it's just like having a 3 channel amp. The trem is a somtimes addition, use it like a Creedance setting at the moment, w/ BBD I would have set for a chopping helicopter thang, the PN2 is a great pedal. Standard cheapest Dunlop Crybaby stock, used on funky backing part more than solo's these days, the tuner should be on every giggers board, I like the Boss tuner as well. It's funny cause I think of this as minimal and I'm sure it looks like mission control to some guys ps using the Onespot AC adapter and LOVE it! -
Disappointed with Cream at RAH DVD
hardheartedbill replied to HamerHokie's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'm no big Cream fan and only saw the PBS broadcast but I dig the strat tones , I guess I just like the more open tone. One thing some of us forget is how much EC changed the tone of electric guitar, he basiclly invented the modern humbucker amp cranked tone, ask Billy G who inspired him to buy Pearly, so while I actually prefer Cream tunes played by old guys w/ lower gain, EC's legacy to the rock guitar tone cannot be denied. I applaud him for the been there done that approach to his old catalog -
they work great w/ Marshallesque and Voxy amps , I dont like em as well on Fendery amps. Phoenix has a small box 50 watt jmp and basketweave 412 rig that uses a Gibson version of the Hotplate, it's the best rock sound EVER
-
LOL! I'm going to make sure I work that into a conversation with someone today! I can't believe that your not using it already!
