  1. That guy in the Hamer magazine ads is sure gonna be surprised to read THAT!
  2. I referred to them as "Hamer Experts" because that's what they are. One guy has repaired more Hamer guitars than, dare I say, anyone else (outside of the factory itself). The other two guys have spent the better part of two decades chronicling the assorted models, production numbers, and yes VALUE of Hamer guitars. It's no clever accident that one of them is called "Serial." All three of these guys are personal friends, by the way, of some guy named Paul who's last name just happens to be "Hamer." It is no fault of ours that you happen to find yourself in the unique position of being the recipient of misinformation from someone trying to sell you something. It is not the first time that someone has wandered over here, and we've been made the bearer of bad tidings. So far, you've been wrong about the list price of the guitar, the comparison to the USA models, the current value, and the idea in the first place that we might give a shit about any of it. At the end of the day, it's worth what it's worth - not what it's worth to you. It must be incredibly difficult for you to make your way through this big old world of ours, knowing that you're right and everyone else is wrong. Is there one person so far that has seen it your way? Maybe it isn't us. Hell, I'm considering giving you $350 for it just so that you'd drop the whole fucking subject. When I received the guitar, I'd smash it, box it back up, and ship it back to you. Everyone knows that the imports smash just as dramatically as the USA models.
  3. Hi Bruce. Welcome to our forum. I won't give you hard time about trying to sell a guitar with your first post, but to argue with what three very knowledgeable Hamer experts are telling you your guitar is worth is no way to get off on the right foot. Hearing that your guitar is worth about $150 probably isn't the best news you'll get all day, but arguing your point is not going to change things, and certainly isn't going to bag you the four or five bills you're looking for. You asked for advice and you got it. If you want to turn it into a debate, you'd better bring some more pertinent facts. My advice is to keep the guitar, since it's so great and you have four times its value tied into it. We don't argue about guitars here - only politics.
  4. You think Captain RAWK gives a F*KK? That's part of what makes him Captain RAWK!
  5. I can't tell them apart!
  6. Seems the bass player thought he was more rawk than Jaye. A catastrophic miscalculation on his part. ...and his brazen insolence did not do much to help the matter.
  7. That's how you rock, kids!
  8. You break my heart man...you know that Keebler must come my way. If I ever let you play it, how culd you ever own another Les Paul? No other would ever be good enough. It's for your own good, Rockah.
  9. Stealth my man...stealth. We still on for dinner next week? Oh there you are! Sorry...must have been the camouflage. Gonna have to reschedule. Change of plans for next week.
  10. Where are you? I can't see you.
  11. Oh yea! Gots mine's on Friday, and practically burned my hands gettin' out the box! Had a healthy helpin' with scrambled eggs and ham yesterday mornin'. GREAT stuff!
  12. It's not a weak neck joint (such a thing does not exist in the Hamer World - seriously). It's "Hameritis." Search the board for that word. It will explain it in depth. Welcome!
  13. How old ? Older than me.
  14. Makes perfect sense to me. My '59 Junior practically floats, and it's really loud acoustically. Plugged in, it's as good as any you'll ever hear. My '59 Strat is the same way: light and loud. Likewise, my Keebler, which was made with old wood, is the lightest full depth, unchambered Les Paul I have ever touched. And it shares the same sonic attributes as my Junior. I have to believe that old wood is simply better than everything else.
  15. Well, the first time I heard my older brother rip a tremendous fart in our school's auditorium, I must say I was quite impressed. The man had natural tone. You can't teach that kind of tone...
  16. This is YOUR opinion. If you can't tell the difference between a real vintage guiar and one built to immitate it, that's a short-coming of yours - not a misconception of those that can tell the difference. Again: Opinion. As for there being a "better more selection," more can often be less in an art where less is more. And there we have it. It is personal taste. All of those that claim there is "no difference" should just admit that they either can't tell, don't care, or are not interested. But to say that there is no reason for the prices obviously don't understand Supply and Demand. HUH? Will "The whole Vintage thing" be "you" in 30+ years? Will it make sense then?
  17. Probably not...even if I had $300K burning a hole in my pocket. However...and this brings us back to the original post...if you could get an original 'burst for $3,000 (what an R9 goes for) wouldn't you buy one? ...or ten?
  18. Actually, the fact that the prices of them continue to skyrocket tells us there IS something "desirable" about them. If nothing else, it's called "investment." This is all very true. However, it has not stopped the fact that the prices continue to rise. It was why I bought my '59 Strat when I did. I had had several opportunities to buy them when they were half the price, but talked myself out of the idea when I took into account how many fakes there were and how easy they are to duplicate. As I waited, everyone else bought and bought and bought. Finally I got my act together and bought one as well. I could turn it around after owning it almost a year and make some money on it, but believe it or not, it's one of the best guitars I own. Not because it's worth X amount, but because it's truly badass. If I could get that from the Fender Custom Shop, GVCG, Nash (I've played them ALL - LOTS of 'em), I'd sell it, buy a half a dozen replicas, pocket some dough, and call it a day. This has NOTHING to do with what a guitar is worth in dollars. I agree with you there, but if you spend real money on something that can not be substantiated, you would do just as well to take your money and throw it out into the street.
  19. I (and many reading this) find it hard to believe that you are that foolish. NO ONE could be that foolish.
  20. "No brainer" is right. An original finish '59 with original pickups and hardware for $22,500 is the going rate. Next month it'll be a steal. Buy 10 Suhrs with that same money and try to get half of it back in a month.
  21. Because one is talking out of one's ass.
  22. Well, yea...so did I. EVERY TIME!
  23. Ok. Do me a favor: Find me some '55 Strats for $2400. I'll buy every one you find and pay you $2400 for each one you find. Deal? Just when I thought you could not further prove your ignorance, you prove me wrong yet again. Do you really believe the shit you fling, or do you just say what you say to get a reaction out of the people that actually know better?
  24. Ok..."Plays like butter" I can let slide (even though it is one of the mosy hackneyed terms in all of guitar-ebaY-saledom), but "Feels like butter"?? No thanks. That sounds kinda yucky.
  25. Isn't that three words?
