  1. I think it's Oprah's body.
  2. I had a similar experience that weekend, only without the bike or the paper route money. That performance blew my mind. I think the second number that they performed was "Thela Hun Ginjeet" - more overly flanger'd and compressor'd feedback-driven solos and noises. I thought to myself, "This is MY kinda music!" They slayed - plain and simple. I went out the next day and bought that record.
  3. yikes, easy w/ the homophobia, we have gay members here. that's about as classy as dropping the N word or going all mel gibson. -brooks (short hetro half jew) Yes - thin ice, my friend. Neither the time, place, or forum.
  4. He may have said it better, but he's still talking out of his ass. Spandex! RIGHT! I was an acid washed jeans guy! Sporto mentions historical significance in general, but doesn't give any examples. Not only that, but he has NO IDEA how a First Down is measured! Go ahead! ASK HIM!! Look, I'm dangerously close to 6000 posts, and I'm not about to waste the "historical significance" on the likes of this subject - LOL! Others above have mentioned how lame the RnRH0F is, and I'd have to agree. My point is that it has further moved toward mega-lameness with the inclusion of R.E.M.
  5. I don't whine Austin, although I have been known to stew and brood. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five have lent "historic artistic influence," as Willie put it, to the music that we hear around us every day (regardless of if you view that as a good or a bad thing), being one of the first Rap/Hip Hip acts to gain popularity. Without them there is no Run-DMC, and therefore no Beastie Boys, and so on. Again: this is either something that you love or dread, but the historical significance is obvious. R.E.M. and Michael Stipe (speaking of WHINING!!) have not made this kind of mark.
  6. R.E.M.?? That just watered down the whole exclusivity of the whole thing. Who's next? Flock of Seagulls? Gimme a f**kin' break.
  7. Certainly there have been scores of "better" live records, but KISS "Alive!" is probably the most significant live album for any band in history (a bold statement, I'll grant you, but I can back it up). KISS' first three albums did terribly. They were sure that they had what it took to make it (the fans that DID make it out to see them told them so), but they couldn't get it across to the album-buying public. They considered a number of changes, but they realized what they needed to do was try to get people that had never seen them live to experience what a KISS concert was all about. Voila! KISS "Alive!" While most live albums are produced to satisfy a record contract, much like a "Best Of..." compilation when a band signs on for X number of albums, KISS "Alive!" was just the opposite: it MADE them. Suddenly, those first three records started to sell. Then the KISS Army was born, and the rest is history.
  8. Well, I think you'll find there is a wide verity of members on this forum; juvenile, mature, ignorant and opinionated, educated and reserved, as well as everything in-between. That said, the HFC is (and I'm rather partial on this subject, being ignorant, juvenile and opinionated) one of the best (if not THE best) forums on the Internet. Depending on the person and the situation, we have often banded together to lift the spirits of the down-trodden, as well as give the smack down to those that brazenly ask for it. You've come to the right place, but keep in mind: Some will agree with you, some will not. Such is life. Whatever you do, don't let a few dick and fart jokes scare you off. Welcome to the HFC.
  9. ...and on occasion I have busted Frank's balls - and not in my usual humerous way, either. My most sincere condolences for your loss, Frank.
  10. I got a rock.
  11. I heard that it wasn't illness but actually from him attempting to jump back and kiss himself.
  12. Maybe, but I'd say most people are trumped by any story that starts out with "I had a meeting with Kissinger."
  13. You're right, El: Mean people DO suck!
  14. I do know that one. I even know that carpet. Here's my one and only 6 in line Hamer...
  15. True 'dat! That's why I don't really get this "modern rock." It's not about actually being able to play just whining vocals and jumping up and down. If that songs were good it would be one thing but songwriting is nonexistant too! I disagree wholeheartedly; the Decemberists are about songs and songwriting. Their lyrics are obscure and quite literate. It is obvious, however, that instrumentalists they aren't. I think the point is that he had no business "shredding" on national television. What's next? Me starring in my own sitcom? I'm sorry but that band's 15 minutes ran out at about Midnight, Eastern.
  16. The 25.5" scale is what makes it for me (and another reason I like the Mirage as well).
  17. I'm trying to spare everyone the sight of you and Serial on stage with red and SFG Firebird I's. It would just be too weird!
  18. Elites also have the downsized bodies, yes. The Superpro is alotta guitar - especially for $1175. Wait, I thought you didn't like Hamers anymore? And Kiz is Alotta Fagina. Holatta Wot? I still like Hamers. I still have a few...
  19. Elites also have the downsized bodies, yes. Edit: ...or, to be more specific (as DavidE mentions above), the Superpro has a larger body. I believe the mentioning of "downsized" was as compared to the Superpro> The Superpro is alotta guitar - especially for $1175.
  20. That ain't an Elite - That's a man's guitar! ...and I think all Superpros are chambered. I think...
  21. That's F**kin' awesome, LOTT!!
  22. That's just a vicious rumor.
  23. Needs a Baker neck, eh, Serial?
