  1. Now you're talking about Les Paul Juniors. Apples & Oranges again, even within the Les Paul family... I was very impressed with his playing on SNL, even moreso that he was soloing while singing. I have to hand it to anyone that can do either well. Do them at the same time and you're miles above anything that Springsteen ever did, IMO. That said, since he's obviously a very talented player, did he really need THREE guitar players on stage along with him? That's something you can almost defend if the front man only holds the guitar in front of him to strum every once in a while, but this guy is clearly not that type of player.
  2. I've had many Les Pauls and at least 10 times as many Specials. They Are NOT alike - period. The Sustain Block bridge is the biggest difference, but that's not the end of it. As for the dual 'bucker, tune-o-matic guitars, they are in the "Close, but no Cigar" category (which is not listed).
  3. It's called "Marketing." +1 I'd find it more offensive if Clapton, the Allman estate or anyone else for that matter sought to copyright (and thus receive residuals from the use of) common words like "crossroad," "dark" or "burst." Or "You're fired" ...or... "That's hot" ...or... "Boobies, baby. Boobies!" (Oh, wait... that was me).
  4. It's called "Marketing."
  5. Uhh....Yea!
  6. I'm curious as to what Wah pedal he uses. ...and where to get one of those Talent Boosts as well.
  7. He said "80's Morgan Fairchild". It would seem she got implants along the way... BIG ones! LOL
  8. That has often been the case, but they have been trying to get away from that the past few years. Prince was all-the-way live - no question about that. Billy Joel was also live. You can tell because his vocals were as flat as a mid '80's Morgan Fairchild.
  9. I think she found God and stopped taking her shirt off. A damn shame. That was Vanity (unless Appalonia found God, too).
  10. Get Shakira to have a major "wardrobe malfunction". It may not be as good musically, but I'd watch. I joked before Prince started that he would have a wardrobe malfunction and that his crank would fall out. During his solo in "Purple Rain," when he was behind that sheet with the side view of his shadow being cast on it and playing the Prince guitar, the whole room was spitting out soda and chips.
  11. 100% live and not fooling around at all.
  12. His Royal Badness slayed - plain and simple. I love that he stripped the band down to the minimum of pieces and is just focussing on the music and getting away from all of the theatrics (not that I mind looking at the dancers). To get up there with no pre-recorded BS and just rip (and WELL) just shows you how awesome a player and performer he really is.
  13. I've told the story several times before about when my brother came home with this record that, he said, I "HAD to listen to." Jeff Beck's "Wired" was the record that made we want to play guitar, and the white Strat on the cover is the guitar. Maybe that's why I have always been magnetically drawn to the Stratocaster. This is also the perfect album cover, by the way. Slicker than eel shit.
  14. Oh sh!t... Sorry...I can read...Really I can.
  15. Side 2 of Abbey Road. A all-time great album side from a band that I have never had any use for.
  16. Exactly...I was asking about the fish.
  17. OOfff! Where's the fish?
  18. I loved mine! It was one of the heaviest Les Pauls (so that makes it one of the heaviest guitars) that I have ever touched, but it played and sounded great!
  19. Ollie North T-shirt and leather Nike hightops? I'm thinking the photo is on the old side.
  20. LOL!!! I forgot about that one!
  21. I suppose I could have, had I taken the picture... Here ya go, Big Ben.
  22. Me and Poe at elduave's shindig this past Summer...
