  1. Just pulled the jack - it's a TRS, so that should explain the acoustic side. It gets more interesting all the time....
  2. Kind of.... The 3 pickups work fine but it's hard to know if the Fishman is doing anything. I'm not getting any acoustic-type noises that I can tell. And normally I don't care what's under there - as long as it's fully functional. This thing looks like 12-year-old me got loose with a soldering iron. Maybe I was expecting too much.
  3. Opened up the new-to-me T-51 yesterday and found this: Oof. Not Hamer's best work. At first I thought I'd just rewire it to my liking but I'm not yet in love with the guitar and really don't want another project. It's a fucking mess. Since Dave's only mentioned a possible pickup change and not the wiring nightmare, what would you do? Send it back? Ask for $$ for repairs? Shit.
  4. It's a one-holer, but you have me wondering if it uses a TRS cable. It wouldn't surprise me, considering how it all works.
  5. It's Here! First glance: Clean. Body has a few dinks and doinks but nothing thru the finish. For 30 years old it's actually pretty amazing. No cracks at the neck pocket. There's an extra hole at the low E tuner and the neck is a little more thin/wide than expected. The cowboy chord area shows some wear. The guy was a strummer because the upper frets look nearly unused while the chrome around the bridge pickup shows pick wear. The original Hamer hardshell case even has the key! Haven't plugged it in yet - waiting for my wife to leave......more to come...... ETA: OK, played it for a bit and it does all that guitar stuff. The switching is different, though. The 5-way is Strat-like and the first volume control works on all 3 pickups. Then it gets weird - there are no push-pulls and no tone control. The first small toggle is like a 'blower' switch and it's controlled by a volume control located in the tone control position. The second mini toggle is a 3-way and also works off the second volume control, but I haven't figured out what it does yet. In the middle position it adds some highs to the regular pickups (maybe it's 'off'?) while the other 2 positions darkens the tone. I'm assuming it runs the Fishman pickups, but it only works with the 'blower' switch on. Like I said - weird. Tomorrow I'll pull the plate off and see what's what but it's definitely interesting. Thanks again, Crunchee, for posting that. It plays good and looks great. Once I figure out how it works, it should be a keeper.
  6. This morning said by 1:40. Now it says end of the day.
  7. I don't have a Facebook account so I can't check it out. The listing is 10 weeks old. I can't imagine it's still there, but you never know...
  8. That fact that Coldplay is even on that list - let alone twice - makes me want to .
  9. Chunky neck = lottery winner. Congrats!
  10. Thank you, Crunchee! He shoots, he scores! Too many good things not to pull the trigger: I've been wanting to build a Nashville Tele for years and just never did, I've never seen another T-51 configured like that, 7.4 lbs is a feather, the color matches my LP, and case is included! WOOHOO!! With the possible exception of the pickups, it appears (to me) to be all factory. Anybody see anything otherwise?
  11. You've obviously never heard me play.
  12. You can't beat a good Daytona. Congrats! ....but you really need a blue guitar.....
  13. Who's the alien with the abnormally large head in the lower right? That's like a head and a half. Even his hair couldn't keep up.
  14. Shawn, I love your passion for these things! And I should really hate Fender for what they did to Hamer. But I've had the same '64 Vibrolux since I started playing (53 years) and it is still what I judge all other amps by. Maybe that's why boutique amps never really did anything for me - I've owned a 'grail' almost since day 1 and gigged it regularly. There's also a '63 Pro Amp and a '67 Princeton here as well. But now none of them leave the house because it would suck if anything happened to them. Which is kinda the point of wanting the DRTM - a light, simple, toss-it-in-the-truck-and-go-with-no-worries amp that I won't lose sleep over if it gets stolen, bumped, bruised or even blowed up. The weight is the #1 factor as my back is AFU, and being that close to 'the sound' really seals it. While I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Z amps for years (and would gladly take one if they were handing them out), it's just not something that would fill this particular need.
  15. "We have both kinds...."
  16. Nice! Has a real Satriani feel to it.
  17. Probably due to Pop and Country having more '80s Rock in them. Strip away them godawful twangy vocals and Country IS '80s/'90s Rock.
  18. Mine haven't missed a beat. They don't get used nearly as much as yours, but they're still working great!
