  1. Did she snag the one off CL while I snoozed and losed?
  2. Dave's had one side-by-side with the real thing and it was laughable how much lighter the TM was. Honestly a featherweight. I forgot about the Trademark 60......had one years ago......
  3. From the guy who changes tube amps more than I change underwear. My SuperChamp has been to every gig without issue or complaint since 2012. Still sounds great! 💪
  4. The real problem with tube amps is inconsistency - one day they sound amazing, the next meh. They are finicky and don't like being manhandled. The 'sweet spot' is typically louder than I need to be 90% of the time, especially in Madison Square Basement. And tubes, that need replacing more often than I like to do it, have gotten stupid expensive. This solid state crap repeats every time - hot, cold, humid - it doesn't matter, it's going to sound the same every time you plug into it. Even after bouncing around in the back of a truck you can plug in and not worry about tubes rattling loose or worse, getting broken. The light weight is a huge plus. My SuperChamp (in an aftermarket 1x12 combo cab) is 35 pounds. The DRTM is 20. Will I be selling off my old Fender stuff? Nope. I've tried plenty of other brands and always go back to Fender. And I've used other other SS amps that sound great (Roland Cube 60, Boss Katana 50), but they always include the kitchen sink, which I don't really want or need. The Tone Masters seem to have nailed 99% of the real deal vibe without a bunch extra stuff - or tubes - and that's a pretty huge part of the appeal. YMMV.
  5. Well done. Damn, that looks great!
  6. Truth. Although a loud fluorescent lamp is a bad thing.
  7. Yep - going to the solid-state dark side. Well, actually the light side, as they weigh like 20 lbs and my old back loves that idea. Plus all the reviews say it sounds so close to the real thing that the bar flies won't give a sh!t. Win-win.
  8. Hey - it's early and I'm tired. Plus, at my age you take whatever's easiest. And yeah, but your Grammy and Oscar competition would be stiff.
  9. Forget the guitar - Perry had some of the worst plastic surgery I've ever seen.
  10. And if you haven't tried 'The Rosalind' (formerly known as the 'Cowpie Custom'), do it today! Josh loves building those. Thanks again, Josh!
  11. Looks a lot like a Bigsby. What am I missing?
  12. At 5'2", it would be perfect for this guy: It still wouldn't look right, though.
  13. I love it! Nearly perfect but needs more black, you know, to hide the flame better.... ....and yes, I ordered mine that way. Stealth flame is cool.
  14. If that is true....damn. 9 years bedridden? He didn't go soon enough. I didn't get the hype around Bad Company until much later on - always liked the band, just didn't understand the gushing. When the light finally did come on, Mick Ralph's guitar work made perfect sense. He was never flashy but always perfect for the song and perfect for Bad Company. Thank you, Mr. Ralphs for all of the great music. R.I.P.
  15. The Daytona is a cut above a Strat the same way Hamer set-necks are a cut above Gibsons - everything is just better. I've been lucky enough to own 4 over the years ( 1 of which is my only true 'the one that got away' story) and they've all been really well done. Check the weight - some are heavy, but it doesn't change the quality of the build. If you prefer the flatter fretboard of a Hamer (vs Fender's 7.25" or 9"), definitely get one. It was great to finally find a Strat that played right.
  16. Now there's a blast from the past! Seven-year-old me thought 'Lightning Strikes' was a great song. Definitely a unique voice. R.I.P., Mr. Christie.
  17. Happy Birthday, Jay!
  18. I've had both Studios and LPs and they can sound nearly the same with some tweaks. Buy the Les Paul and keep both guitars for a month. Which one are you most likely to grab after the honeymoon phase? Sell the other one.
  19. Dammit. He's made more coffee come out my nose than any other entity on the planet. The early days were brutally funny. He also sent me to Google or Webster's more times than I care to admit to figure out what the hell he was on about. Jay - you've been missed here for a long time. I hope you find some relief somehow, somewhere. You are in my thoughts. You are one funny, warped, twisted motherfucker and you brought a buttload of laughter to those of us fortunate enough to have experienced it. Thank you.
