  1. This didn't get nearly enough attention. Her voice was like silk. Hers and Karen Carpenter's.
  2. By '77 I was a total and complete hard rock snob, refusing to listen to anything else. But 'Feels so Good' caught my ear and it WAS good. I didn't buy the album but it may have subconsciously opened up my brain to other influences. Of course I couldn't let anyone know that. R.I.P. Mr. Mangione. Thank you. Writing Mangione made me see 'mangy one'. He was a little scruffy.
  3. Sadly that thought crossed my mind too. Surprised she hadn't 'assisted' him sooner.
  4. ^^^ Depending on the year, any of those could be the headliner.
  5. OMG - they literally auto-tuned him to death. R.I.P., Ozzy. You were a pioneer, to be sure.
  6. I watched part of the Ozzy show and wondered how the hell he was managing to sound so good, all thing considered. Then I saw the Wings of Pegasus bit and it made a lot more sense. No one escapes it. Hell, they've even pitch-corrected Beatles re-releases.
  7. Thanks, holLoWskull!! I may have to hit you up on that. Besides the 5-way and 2 volumes (1 for the Fishman, 1 for the regulars, no tone), there are 2 mini-toggles: a 2-way and a 3-way. Not 100% sure what they do. I'm probably going to go with a 5-way with separate volume and tone controls for the regular pickups, and a separate volume for the Fishman, to a TRS jack - and remove whatever the rest of that was supposed to be. It'll look like this: Clean, simple, effective.
  8. Dave speaks the truth. The second one sneaks up outta nowhere and pretty soon there's a huge wood pile that someone is gonna bitch about. Not that I would know....... Welcome. Have fun!
  9. 'Feeble Geezer' is the name of my next band. Plus, I just don't have the patience for that shit anymore. Twenty years ago, the Sustain Blocks were a labor of love. This, not so much.
  10. Yes it is. Dumbass coulda looked it up himself.
  11. No trouble, really. I just didn't have anything else to whine about at the time. And I still really appreciate the heads-up! The $75 will go towards a new pre-wired plate, then that will be as clean as the rest of the guitar, which it deserves. It's really pretty nice. If anybody has a preferred wiring guy or control plate guy, let me know.
  12. Reply from Dave: Return it for a refund, return it and we'll clean it up, or take $75 and piss off (not really on that last part). So I says, "$75 seems a little light. Throw in a T-shirt and you got a deal". He laughed. The check and shirt go out Monday.
  13. The 'Peter Dinklage Mod': Everything is at 50%, worse when it's cold.
  14. You have to be a jock strap....I mean, supporter. Send Ted your hard-earned cash and you're in.
  15. Have it carbon dated, you fossil.
  16. Is the control plate on a T-51 the same size a Telecaster? And are the screw holes in the same spot?
  17. ABSOLUTELY. Guitars are meant to interact with amplifiers. It's what makes them come alive.
  18. Good grab! The cheap stuff was never this good when I was a kid! Searching for a cheap Tele, I ended up with a Squire, a Firefly and an IYV. The IYV is the keeper - super light, cool fake spalted top, plays in tune, and the 2 stock humbuckers sound good enough (we recorded with it). It was $202 to the door.
  19. THAT. Is really helpful. Lotta good info. The 3-knob solution is great. Thank you!
  20. Not yet, Dave. I could, but some of the wires are melted and there's blobs of solder on everything - stripping everything out of there and starting over would really be the smartest way to go. I just really didn't need another project. I have an email into Dave's. We'll see what they come up with.
  21. I tried a TRS cable and the Fishman works fine! But because of that shitty soldering job, I now lost the bridge pickup. A mess, I tell ya. Fender has a version that looks really clean: They use a 5-way, volume/tone stack and a separate volume to roll the Fishman in at will. To me, it makes a lot more sense than the clust***uck I have now. I'll probably replace the control plate with something similar. It will be more reliable.
