If guitars like this did not sell, Gibson would not be putting them out. In this case it is odd because Sammy Hagar really has not been identified by one guitar, and his pointy ones are the most memorable.

That would be the better route for someone looking for a guitar to play. Somewhere out there are probably a few collectors who will grab one of these to put away and admire.

Yes. First think of Dave Brown, then Mike Shiskov, and then Gary Pirro (sp?). If those guys are still employed I wouldn't be worried about quality at all. Correct me if I'm wrong and I don't mean to discredit Jol's contribution to Hamer but he has not been actively "hands on" in the building process In quite some time. Would it be safe to say his role has been more in Design and management? Yup! Jol bragged on those guys and their talents. Each guy has his part in the quality of the end product.

Thank you for bringing that up. As long as the guys that Jol trained are still building Hamers the quality will remain.

I thought the point of early Hamers was to have a guitar with vintage quality and modern features. Ultimately it was supposed to be a better product than what was normally available in new Gibsons.

Only two brands have really felt right every time, Hamer and Music Man. The redundancy of construction styles and pickups is the only thing besides money that would keep me from buying every Hamer model available.

Kind of hard to do that when Hamer doesn't give out endorsements... Robin doesn't either. I guess some companies just don't want to get bigger. Jol and Frank explained their position on free guitars at an early open house. Free guitars do not guarantee anything other than the company is out of a guitar. Paid endorsements can get expensive.

A couple of B-bender Telecasters have come through the local music store over the years. Those things are heavy, but fun to play with.

There are times when Sklar's playing has seemed a bit loose and his tone was sort of thuddy. He sounds right for what he is playing, though. That guy is an A-lister for sure.

Kasim Sulton plays each song with a different feel and dynamics. Those qualities are hard to achieve, and most people will not notice them. A bass player like that gets on top players' A lists. When he has to, Gene Simmons can create a great bass line that moves the song forward without stepping all over the other instruments.
