the relic thing getting sorta silly
Steve Haynie replied to Citrus's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
How about offering a "natural relic process" that requires keeping the guitar for a year at a time. Someone drops off his new guitar and you play the crap out of it for a year, maybe lending it to some teenagers or putting it on consignment in a poorly monitored guitar shop for a while. -
What a piece of shit. As with any famous person there are going to be supporters filling the Internet with accounts of how the accusers lied, and that has happened in the case of Artimus Pyle. The guy got off with no jail time, so maybe a judge suspected something was not right at the trial. It is all speculation, but in Florida I doubt they let child molesters off easy.
-
Artimus' troubles started after the late 80's reunion. His trouble with the girls started in the 90's.
-
Artimus Pyle has been available for years. There must be something behind the scenes between those guys that is keeping him out of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
-
This means that Lynyrd Skynyrd is over. When Lynyrd Skynyrd got back together for a reunion tour in 1987 and 1988 it was supposed to be temporary. To continue using the Skynyrd name after that a deal had to be made with Ronnie Van Zant's widow, Judy Van Zant. The band had to include at least two pre-crash members, and that may not include the two surviving backup singers. Even though Rick Medlocke was in the band early, he was not with the group at the time they were releasing albums, so he may not count toward the two-member restriction. Two drummers are still alive, Artimus Pyle and Bob Burns. Artimus still performs Skynyrd music. Ed King and Gary Rossington do not get along. It will be interesting to see what kind of deal is reached to keep the band going.

Got Scorpions' "World Wide Live"

It is those "freinds" that spell "'S-C-O-R-P-I-A-N-S" that end up making it in the music business. -

Got Scorpions' "World Wide Live"

The World Wide Live album is one of the last albums I bought on vinyl. I loved it way back then, but it has been years since I heard it. The album cover not good at all. -

I accidentally bought an expensive amp the same way.
-
What kind of vintage amp should I get?
Steve Haynie replied to jwood's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
The Bassman reissue that HamerHokie mentions would be good. The 59 Bassman really is a great amp, but the originals are extremely expensive. A reissue gives you the look of something old with parts that are not likely to go bad from age. A '59 Bassman would give you some early ZZ Top tones, but not the Eliminator era. The reissues are well above the $500 range. If you want an amp consistent with the Steve Stevens get a Marshall JCM 800 half stack and you are in the 80's. A Marshall combo from the era would work. It may be more than your price range, but it would be right for the guitar. -

Learned something new about shipping a guitar
Steve Haynie replied to Citrus's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Speaking from my experience in the US Postal Service-- pack your package well enough to not worry about it. Some packages are tossed into carts not because the handlers are careless, but because there is a large area of carts and the only way to sort the packages in time for the days delivery is to toss a few of the lighter packages. This does not mean they will be thrown twenty feet away, but four or five is common. -
Hamer guitars for heavy metal!
Steve Haynie replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Maybe the better way to assess the Glenn Tipton situation is to look at which Hamer models his endorsement will sell. Even if he has his own models, Tipton is only going to inspire the sale of guitars with the look and features (Floyds) that appeal to metal players. He may have been faithful to Hamer over the years, but from a sales perspective he no longer serves the company any use. At the same time, Tipton is in a position to make an endorsement deal with a variety of manufacturers making metal guitars and he has not. He has been faithful to Hamer with very few other brands making it into his hands on stage to this day. Jol can thank him with a custom shaped guitar every ten to twenty years if he wants to. It is not like Glenn Tipton has had dozens of custom requests built over the years. -

Tell us more about the nasty headstock crack under the tuners on Enola. Is it splinted?
-
Aw, heck, Chris. Show us the whole guitar. The headstock alone looks great, but show us the rest.
