  1. Nice buy for someone. I was tempted myself and I have absolutely no need for another Daytona. - Austin
  2. Yeah, the bridge can sound really great under gain with tone down some. On my Daytona, When it comes to clean sounds, I generlly like it best with all the tones on 10 and the volume down a little bit. - Austin
  3. I like the P90's in my GT as well, but I'm cheating a little bit there since they are Kinmans. - Austin
  4. I know what you mean, My Suhr ML Standard-equipped Daytona has been getting 90% of my playing time lately. I had a hard time getting on with singlecoils after switching over to humubuckers a long time ago, but it all came together with this guitar for some reason (it was great even with the stock SSL1's). I have it wired so one tone controls the neck and the other controls the bridge; the middle is wide-open. Great sounds in all the positions. - Austin
  5. Sure, I'll chime in, but I don't think it will end anything What I see in your picture is a Made in Germany by Schaller Hamer Floyd Rose bridge and a Made in Germany by Schaller Floyd Rose II bridge. And they look the same to me. If that was the point you were trying to make, well, point made. As far as I'm concerned. - Austin
  6. Yes. And also, the Floyd that came on the Diablo I bought from Kim Keller some years back. So apparently at some point, they got a stash of them with the threaded inserts. - Austin
  7. Incorrect. Schaller started using the hardened inserts at some point in the 90's (I'm sure someone here knows the exact point). So there are plenty of Hamer-stamped baseplates out there. - Austin
  8. An original Floyd won't fit in the same route as a Schaller Floyd (which is what Hamers use). Actually, the most respected Floyd around nowadays is probably the Gotoh Floyd which is a direct retrofit for the original Floyd (but, not the Schaller). Schaller also makes a high-end Floyd called the LockMeister ( http://guitar-tremolo.com/hp316928/Schaller-Tremolo-LockMeister.htm ), but I don't think I've ever actually seen one on anything and don't know if it's available in the US. - Austin
  9. Terrific looking guitar!
  10. I don't think anyone would deny he's a talented musician. Guitarists just hate on him because they think it's unfair that his concerts pull college coeds and he sleeps with superstars, while they're playing Jazz Odyssey to 5 guys with their arms crossed and sleeping in their mom's basement. Pretty sure John's getting the last laugh in that scenario - Austin
  11. Inconceivable! Anyway, I've always been impressed by Joe Jackson even though I don't have any of his albums. When I found out the same guy did "You Can't Get What You Want" and "I'm the Man" it was hard for me to believe. And then he branched out further from there! - Austin
  12. Those pickup rings are brilliant. They look cool and they let you go from humbucker to P90 with no routing. - Austin
  13. Carving is definitely part of the issue too I think. It's alot easier to get a great-looking top if you don't have to carve it. - Austin
  14. Never heard of eczema on fingers before; that sucks. - Austin
  15. Quoted for truth! - Austin
  16. I can't help you with the bridge hummy since I loved the PATB1 in my flame maple Cali, but for the neck pickup, I though the Dimarzio Chopper worked very well. Has a single coil flavor to it, but it's much fatter and able to keep up with the humbucker in the bridge. I've had a few Cali's and that was my go-to neck pickup. - Austin
  17. Blackstar! No contest. - Austin
  18. Very nice! Hearing the first one makes me think a "Her Majesty's"-tempo and style solo rendition of Something would be pretty fun. - Austin
  19. Alright, check on both of those. Chambered it is! - Austin
  20. When it comes to anything rock-related, why play anything else. In other words, what are the "problems" with the P-Bass that subsequent models were attempting to fix? - Austin
  21. That's one major advantage of the 11R, it's incredible easy to tweak from the front panel; not software required (although maybe I'm a weirdo, since I do most of my Axe2 tweaking from the front panel too). - Austin
  22. Axe2's are pretty easy to find used. If you want a new one at a discount, there's a waiting list, but you should be able to find someone to get a code from (or get a code off eBay for a couple buck).. As far as a midi pedal goes, why a Liquid Foot as opposed to the MFC101? Having said that, if you like the Line6 stuff, why spend 6 times as much money (conservatively) for an Axe setup? - Austin
