  1. Gonna have to third that. He busts out with a pretty awesome one at the 16 sec mark of this one. Just don't look if you're annoyed by extreme controls-checking OCD - Austin
  2. Given the amount of money likely to be extracted from LZ, I'm not sure why this took so long? - Austin
  3. The blue one used to be mine a number of years back. It was originally ordered by Willcutt, as was that Magnificent 7 next to it. Nice looking guitars! - Austin
  4. I put it in-line for you. Won't have a chance to listen to it until this evening unfortunately. - Austin
  5. You could do far worse than to try a set of Dimarzio 36th Anniversary pickups. - Austin
  6. Fucking. Sucks. Thanks for all the awesomeness over the years and good luck!
  7. I figured out how to play all the forms of the major scale all over the neck in the first couple days after I picked up an electric. I took piano lessons for about 8 years before that, so I imagine that's related. Although, Interestingly, I took classical guitar lessons for a year before I got an electric and didn't really learn anything In a way it was good, because, once I heard about them, I quickly realized the major modes are the same pattern, just shifted. And pentatonic/blues scales are the same scale with notes left out/added in (unlike most people I think, I learned pentatonic scales a couple years in). But in another way, it was crippling because it is very hard for me to play things that break out of that pattern, like, for example the harmonic minor scale all over the neck. Now admittedly, that's due to my laziness. But if I had it do do over, I think it probably would have been more useful to see things in terms of playing chords all over the neck and deriving the scales from those as opposed to the other way around. My mind just doesn't work like that. Still got some years left to figure it out though. No matter how much you know, there's always more to learn! - Austin
  8. This is the first time I noticed the toggle switch (instead of the usual 3-way blade). These also all had non-reverse headstocks, unlike stock Diablos. - Austin
  9. I've had a couple. Perhaps the most comfortable guitars ever, but ultimately a bit too "polite" sounding for lack of better words. - Austin
  10. Bound Headstocks became a standard feature for the Artist Custom (and Studio Custom and Duotone Custom, etc...) in late 2006/early 2007. Nice guitar, good luck on the sale. - Austin
  11. Man, I feel like I should have tried harder after seeing those - Austin
  12. Happy Birthday to you both!
  13. Well, if you're open to 22 frets, then things open up considerably and it should be pretty easy to find something that fits the bill. Also, in terms of liking the Suhr tones, their pickups are available separately (I have Suhr pickups on all my guitars), so you can still get some of that Suhr mojo if you want. - Austin
  14. Hmm, I was going to suggest a Suhr Modern when I saw your thread title so... Anyway, if you like 24-fret, alder body guitars with Floyds, then I think you're looking for a Hamer Diablo and those can be found all day long for well under $1K. - Austin
  15. Looks awesome. There's just no beating the zebra double-cream combo on a 2-humbucker Hamer. - Austin
  16. Not to be a debbie downer, but I would say working men buy used. So whatever you produce is going to have to compete with the used market and the more utilitarian the design, the more likelihood there will be several alternatives in that market. Good luck. - Austin
  17. In May, I bought a Guthrie Govan model Suhr Modern. Then a month or two later, I bought another Suhr Modern that was a bit different than the GG, and sold the GG. Then a month or so ago, I bought a setneck carvetop Modern and sold the other one. So although I spent an obscene amount of money last year, the total number of guitars I went through was less. We'll see what happens this year. - Austin
  18. Nothing on the radar. If the right Monaco Elite GT or Suhr Classic comes along, I could go for those. Otherwise, I'll spend a good portion of 2014 paying off my latest acquisition. - Austin
  19. This is probably due to the 11 gauge strings. Greater tension in the system leads to less of a change in pitch. - Austin
