OCT 6th Chicago Vintage Guitar Expo
RacerX replied to bubs_42's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yep, I’ll be there! -
Hi all, I saw this case on FB marketplace in Des Moines Iowa area, was hoping it would fit my B4S but it's little short. Anyway, I think it's an early (red lining) Phantom case? No affiliation, the guy was nice enough to measure it for me so I thought I's pass it along here... No link, just look it up if you have FB (I dont... I use my Wife's account :-)) -Mark

Interesting, I had a Legend 1x12 combo and a head (both the Rock&Roll 50 model) years ago. Ran the head through a Orange 4x12. I liked them but got guff from my buddies because I didn't use Marshalls. They looked sort of boogie-ish with the cane grill and natural wood cabs (oak) and sounded Marshall-y. I remember always having the "boost" switched in since the amp thined out too much for me without it. My 1x12 combo was in NOS shape with the original cover, manual, schmatic, even the foot switch was still in the plastic baggy...and it took me a YEAR to sell it!!! NO legend love back then Mark. -
Happy birthday guys

4 Digit Standard #190 FS
RacerX replied to Menmojo's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Never heard that one, and I've owned several '79 Standards myself that were perfect. Could you be thinking about the earlier neck twisting on some of the pre-3pc neck Sunbursts or issues with the early 8 and 12 string (single truss rod) basses? True it's more of a sunburst thing, but I have seen a couple really small neck standards in this # range, one I played a couple years ago had a slight twist, but played fine with no tuning issues. It was the string gauge comment that scared me, I can't play hamers with springy necks. Could just be a setup/trussrod thing, but I sure would want to test drive this one first... Hope this one turns out ok for the new owner. -
This is a great amp, used to be mine. Does the regular Boogie singing/sustaining gain thing that they are famous for But what REALLY knocked me out was the clean and slightly cookin' tones you can get from this amp. Very rich and thick, and I think the Imbuya (sp?) cabinet adds some snap and presence to the warmth to build a nice mix. The way the 3way EQ switch works, eq always on/eq always off/eq footswitchable. Easy to use the eq as a solo boost with the f/s. I should also mention this amp is LOUD, and nice lookin in the living room...

I like the raw neck feel, so I'd be tempted to leave that. I think I'd rock it just as it sits!

Thanks guys, I went with a Panasonic bd60. Hooked it up last night and watched SpeedRacer on BR...just killer. Really shows off the 1080p Plasma. I tried an older (2000) Dream Theater standard dvd and it was without question better that my old dvd player (which still looked pretty good). Mark.

I know that guitar, I just missed it when Steve sold it as a project... tobereeno, check yer pm Mark

Any opinion on the bottom feeder bluray players? Like the Panasonic BD605 vs. the Sony s360 I'm leaning tward the Panasonic because I had a GREAT experience with the warranty/service group on my 42" 1080p plasma (which I love). and the Viera link might be usefull. I have a super low tec sound set up at the moment (old skool bang&olufson reciever into a Phase-tech sat/sub speakers, just feeding from the plasma outs. Don't laugh, I can get it rumblin' pretty good in my tiny house!) so, zoomy surround sound is not a priority. Mostly interested in which would look best on the plasma and which might up-convert the best since we have a bunch of non BR dvds. Thanks! Mark.

RIP... I have a LesPaul 78 in one of my jukeboxes that I'll be playing a few times today in memory. He lived a full life and gave us a lot. Thanks Les.

A 1977 Sunburst that I got used in 78... then traded away about a year later That's the way it was back then, I had 2 guitars and always had to trade in one to get another. No picture, just great memories. Mark.

I love those electrosocket jack cups, the whole point of those is (besides being WAY more secure) is to guide the plug cleanly into the jack and for that reason the jack sits deep in the electrosocket. Works great for quick guitar changes. But for you 90' guys, you can remove the 2 screws and pull it out. Sometimes there is a nut or washer that you can remove so a little more of the jack sticks out which will allow the 90' plug to fit. You can't go too far outward however or you will block the mounting screws.

Came from a local musician I've known for years, but I didn't know he had THIS thing. He got it from Jol back around 81ish "along with some specials that they had lying around" LOL! He played in some local opening bands and sat in with touring acts and did some "house band" stuff when they came through town back in the day. So it was probably good PR for Hamer at the time. Mark.
