  1. I had placed an ad for my TLE on harmony central and got an offer that I thought was ridiculously low. I did a search on Hamers and found this site. After making my initial post, I discovered that the offer was indeed ridiculous and received multiple better offers from HFC'ers. The guitar eventually sold to Hectorp, btw.
  2. Was the warehouse supply of mojo included with the purchase price, or did it cost extra?
  3. Electric---an assortment of memorable 80's riffs, as aforementioned, such as You Shook Me, Talk Dirty To Me, Still of the Night, etc. Acoustic--Love Song by Tesla
  4. Hey Nick! Sincere congratulations from Illinois! She's a beauty, and I'm guessing she's a keeper!
  5. Saw them last night at Bagelfest in Mattoon. An old drummer called me up with extra 5th row tickets, which soon became meaningless as everyone crowded the front of the stage. I took my wife and ten-year-old daughter--her first concert. Jack Blades--helluva an entertainer, played a Hamer bass all night--double cut cherry sunburst, two creme pickups and a studio-type headstock, used a plastic thumbpick, nailed the majority of his vocals, never stopped moving Brad Gillis--made lots of annoying rock guitar faces, but played the hell out of his red superstrat, didn't change guitars all night except for a short acoustic section in the middle of the show, initiated an impromptu rendition of Highway to Hell which Blades couldn't sing very well Kelly Keaggy--far better drummer than I anticipated, vocals were still excellent except for the high range, you could tell he was really straining and couldn't get some of the high stuff, had his son with him which I thought was cool (not playing, just hanging out backstage watching the old man), looked like an ordinary dude that you might see in line at the grocery store Reb Beach--friggin' monster of a player, played a mahogany superstrat all night, I'm not sure what brand, had some problems with a buzz in his rig, seemed bored with parts of the show, seemed like they weren't giving him much room to cut loose and when he did, the jackass local soundman didn't turn him up enough to really hear, threw a pick that landed by my feet, but it was dark and I can't see that well so the guy next to me found it before I did. We did get an autographed frisbee though. Overall, an excellent show for a low ticket price of $12.50. My ears are still ringing, and my daughter is now a Night Ranger fanatic. She sent a fan email to Jack Blades this morning and still is jabbering non-stop about the show.
  6. I bought some Wrangler picks at Wal-Mart. They match my stylish blue jeans.
  7. Have a good one!
  8. HBD Nick! My Canadian bro!
  9. Well I'm the eighth generation to grow my own Butter beans, tobacco, a little pot in the corn Got four black angus and a belted hog Chickens 'round the house and a country dog "I'm Country" by Trent Summar and The New Row Mob
  10. Electronic kit on the cheap . . . Find a set of Remo practice pads, some cheap triggers, and an Alesis D4. You should be able to find all that for a couple hundred bucks.
  11. Video link? On a somewhat related note, pun intended, Megadeth did one song, possibly the title track, from Countdown to Extinction on Letterman and were quite brutal. Dave was sober, Friedman was beyond impressive, and Nick Menza was flat-out destroying the drums!
  12. Prayers coming your way from Central Illinois. I lost my dad about three months ago and know what you're going through.
  13. Doody, That's a sweet TLE Custom.
  14. Congrats Kevin! I hope you have a long, happy life together.
  15. I like the natural Studio with the Victory inlays and the purple Tele w/P90s.
  16. I'd say that cheap amps are greatly improved. When I started playing in the mid 80s, there wasn't much to choose from if you were on a tight budget, and the ones that were available sounded like crap. Now, the prices have dropped and sound quality has improved. Add to that the better yet cheaper effects, and one can get a pretty damn good tone for very little money.
  17. Gary, I've just been there where you're at. My dad passed away from cancer in September. Feel free to email me as much as you want. I'm still adjusting to the loss and can share your pain. Also, I'll say that the people on this board are VERY supportive, and it helps greatly to know that even though your Dad is gone, that there are still people in this world that give a damn about you. Prayers coming from Central Illinois.
  18. Well, I made it through the funeral this morning, but I'm still trying to get used to the idea that he's not going to be around any more. When someone is such an integral part of your life, it's impossible to anticipate or describe just how big of a hole they leave behind. I relied on Dad for so many things, I'm just not sure how I'll adapt, but I know I'll have to. Sincere, heartfelt thanks to each of you for your kindness. This place is much more than just an internet message board, it is like a meeting place for extended family. I'm proud to be a part of this community.
  19. After fighting cancer, diabetes, and heart disease for the last several years, my dad passed away at 7:00 this morning. Words cannot describe how much I miss him already. Several people here have been supportive to me during the last two years or so, so I thought I'd let you know. Thanks, Marty
  20. My wife doesn't much care for my music hobby, so I don't make many purchases. When I do, it comes out of money raised from selling some other piece of gear. When I was gigging, I bought more stuff and paid for it with gig money. Now, I'm just a bedroom wanker who doesn't need much stuff anyway. Someday, though, I'd love to have a TLE Custom and a Valvetech amp. Of course, home improvements and braces for my daughter and college tuition and credit card bills and automobile expenses and medical expenses and on and on and on are going to be taking my money for quite some time.
