  1. I like it, I will take it. E-mail sent. Gabe
  2. That one looks a lot like the one I sold to Dirk (and still regret selling). Nice guitar! Thanks for your kind words, Dirk. If you ever want to sell, please contact me first, I may even pay more for it! Gabe
  3. I remember a Honey-colored 1979 Sunburst which was sold for much less than that amount last year. I still regret that. Can I buy it back from you for the same price??? Gabe
  4. Looks like BCR Greg has some work to do.
  5. I told you so, Conrad. Congrats with the Talladega, we want to hear more about it! Gabe
  6. Although the guitar might be nice ( I personally do not have any experience with Phantoms/Prototypes), there is something wrong with the serial no. The bass guitar could be a 1991 according to its serial number. However the Phantom should have a serial no. somewhere in the 1 2000 to 1 5000 range if it is a 1981 guitar. Did you mistype the serial no? If it should read 1 4211 than it can be a 1981 guitar. See the Hamer website: http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=faq#serial 1980's: 0 1451 - 9 24192 1990's: 0 24193 - 9 50155 Gabe
  7. My 2002 USA Hamer GoldTop has exactly the same "problem". But it is not really a problem. It is proof that it is a real USA Hamer guitar, solid as a rock. Gabe
  8. I am sorry. But I like John Mayer's live CD "Try" (2005). Especially the song "Gravity". Pure pentatonic heaven! And there is more. Maybe his music is too polite (is that the right word?) from the studio but live it's another animal. Gabe P.S.: I also like Duke Robillard's Guitar Groove-A-Rama, which I bought at the same time.
  9. Live at Leeds in the deluxe edition is fantastic, the rendition of Tommy is nothing less than spectacular. However, the last album of The Who (or Pete Townsend with Roger Daltrey) "Endless Wire" is very nice. Especially "A man in a purple dress" because of the text. Gabe
  10. Welcome. Gabe
  11. Congratulations to you and your wife and your family. Wishing you happiness. Gabe
  12. My "toy" comment is in reference to how the amp is used. You cannot switch on the fly, it is not footswitchable. The internal speaker is good only to a level only slightly louder than you can yell. It was never designed for live use. It is great for recording or practice, so it is not in the same utility area as a TM60. Hence, it is a toy. Toy ain't bad, Dion. Thanks. Just two weeks ago I bought a TM10 used but in as new condition. I paid about $250 for it and it is worth it. Now you americans may think I paid too much but new it is available here for about $650. (That's right, six hundred and fifty dollars). I am very happy because it really has some signature sounds and it seems to capture these better than my Line 6 Ax2. I like the Marshall and Mesa voices more than the Fender-like ones. Furthermore the headphones out is very usable and loud enough. Much much better than the Behringer V-amp 2 and than the MicroCube headphones out. I have to agree with BCR Greg that an amp like this is not usable for live gigs. I am curious to find out how the TM60 sounds and how it is possible to dial in different sounds, i.e. how easy that is. To answer the question I have downsized from a 100 W Marshall and later a 2 x 50W Ax2 to a Music Man RD65 and later a 7W Songworks Little Lanilei and now the 10W (solid state) Tech21 TM10. I also still use my FabAmp 2 x 3 Watt tube amp (with Fab Amp SSVT and Powerwave preamp). This is a good thread. For practice purposes and for use at home you need a low wattage amp that can be openend up without causing ear-shattering volume. However, even my 2 x 3 Watt Franklin Series FabAmp is much too loud for use with my spouse and children in the room. Gabe
  13. That is really great. Actually, this song turned me on to the Beatles when I heard it for the first time about 1974. I the n bought the double album The Beatles Rock 'n' Roll. I have been a fan ever since. Thanks. Gabe
  14. Now another one (nbptrading) has retracted a bid because he "entered wrong amount". That is ridiculous because he discovered that three days after he made the bid. Gabe
  15. Typical Dutch music.... Gabe
  16. Man, that is a 1980 four digit Standard. That is considered the holy grail for most of the people on this message board. And it is being sold by one of our highly esteemed (senior) members, BCR Greg! Call him and he can tell you everything you want to know about Hamer guitars. And yes, about $4000 is what a four digit Standard is worth, and even more with crown inlays. So it's not out of line. The phase switch reverses the phase of one of the pickups, giving a sort of nasal (or funky) sound in the middle position of the pickup selector, no change of the one pickup sound (I think). On early Hamer Sunbursts the pickups are wired out of phase to obtain that same kind of sound. I guess on this Standard it is an add-on, not done by the factory. Gabe
  17. Because you really need a low watt amp not to get into a fight with your roommates I'd recomend a Carr Mercury. These are expensive though. Gabe
  18. Looks like the standard Daytona bridge to me (and that is a Wilkinson, however very different from the bridge on a T-51). Gabe
  19. According to my wife the man is the head of the family!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . But the wife is the neck. . . . . . . . . And when the neck says "No" then the head is inclined to be shaking with the neck!?!! Gabe P.S.: I have no complaints about the neck, it doesn't shake too often.
  20. Congratulations. Gabe
  21. I'd like to see a complete shot of that one. Please. Gabe
  22. Who is Ed Rechts??? Gabe
  23. +1 I just agreed with Atquinn that a subject like that should be moved to the Outer Circle, 'cause it has nothing to do with Hamer guitars. Still I regret his decision to leave the forum and delete his posts. Gabe
