  1. Read the first three chapters last night. Fascinating! A lot of info on Paul Hamer that I never knew.
  2. I ordered mine through my local B&N. Got it yesterday. Lookin' forward to a fantastic read!!!
  3. I had a used copy of this on vinyl. Sounds like The Human Leage decided to make a blues album.
  4. R.I.P. to one of the world's great musicians.
  5. What a damned shame. Another vaunted USA brand is gone. ;-( What a damned shame. Another vaunted USA brand is gone. ;-(
  6. It's not exactly 15 min.,but my vote would have to go to Captain Senor Mouse from Return To Forever. Bill Connors rules!!!
  7. A former student of Billy Bauer's? You couldn't ask for a better teacher. My deepest sympathies. R.I.P.
  8. There is a guitar on Ebay that the seller describes as a Hamer Eclipse Slammer series. I'm not that familiar with this. I didn't know that these existed. I thought that the Eclipse was a USA guitar only. Anyone familiar with this model? Are they worth a try?
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. Thanks for all the replies.
  11. I was just wondering if there were any auto mechanics on the forum. I was shopping for motor oil. Can you use the store brand ( Wal-Mart,Mejier,etc.) & would they offer the same protection as the national brands ( Pennzoil,Castrol, etc.) Can i save a couple of bucks or am i being penny-wise & pound foolish? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Except for the Newport with purpose-built handwound pickups, most Hamer USA's totally outclass the pickups mounted in them. I think it figured significantly in Hamer USA's lack of recognition and market penetration. It's like putting bias-ply retreads on a Ferrari. Amen! I'm no fan of Duncan p.u.'s. The '59 & JB combo are atrocious to my ears. I like the Seth's in my Newport. When i purchased my Monaco Superpro, the first thing i did was swap the p.u.'s.
  13. Greg,i am a tele guy & it looks terrific. More info about the p.u.'s,please?
  14. A very sad time for anyone & anything related to the electric guitar. One of the most influential players & inventors who ever lived. R.I.P.
  15. Love 's " Forever Changes ". Too many more to add.
  16. The highest price i ever paid for an album was about ten years ago,i bought 2 of the first 3 Love albums on Elektra. I gave $40 apiece for both. First edition,VG condition. Glad i bought them when i did.
  17. +1. It all depends on the intent behind the purchase. If you bought the guitar because you bonded with it, that's fine. If you bought the guitar because of a collectibility factor, that's fine too. If you bought the guitar to portray yourself as someone you're not, i.e. someone who busted up the guitar by playing the shit out of it a hundred times a year on some of the shittiest stages in the country, that's lame. Don't you find it amazing that others have the gall to ? your gear purchases & the reasons thereof? With all due respect, feel free to front me the $,then i will be glad to buy whatever you deem suitable. Have a pleasant day!
  18. I own two " reliced " guitars. Love them to pieces. As far as the anti-relicers are concerned, can't we all just get along?
  19. What a shame. R.I.P.
  20. Beautiful guitar at a fantastic price. Congrats. to Austin.
  21. I couldn't stand most '80's music in general, the Subpop bands spoke to me far more than the likes of Trixter & Jackyl. My vote would be for Tad & Mudhoney.
