I agree. Good on them for knowing what they want, and more importantly what they don't want. The logic is immature for sure, but if they're in their teens/twenties it should be expected. That's exactly what I think. Being labeled under a metal sub-genre IMHO lowers the chances of your band of leaving the pack (of losers, I must say) behind. Nowadays many bands sound the same, songwriting is poor and they just imitate each other, continuously. Sometimes I think there's just no hope -and that's why I'm no longer looking to play with any [place-your-preferred-narrow-minded-metal-subgenre-here] band. Ahhhh....the benefit of hindsight, eh? If I was starting a a project today that I wanted to put some real effort into making successful, I'd avoid all the same pitfalls you speak to. But, when I was a kid and first starting to get together with other musicians (term used loosely), it was 100% covering our idols and doing the same things they did because if it worked for them, it HAD to work for us! Our style of playing, our sound, our look, our gear, etc...it was all the same as whoever we were trying to emulate. These guys are at least playing real instruments (HUGE step in the right direction) and making their version, or someone else's version (does it really matter?) of real music. Sounds like fun to me.

Actually, any band that lets me in based on my gear vs my ability is my kind of band!

I did the bold things. I would love to add theory to my knowledge base and I keep meaning to find somewhere I can do that, yet I only sit here and type.

Tommy is a very nice guy. He got me backstage at the Y2K show in Vancouver, but I still don't like him playing "Spaceman" in Kiss.

And now it's made it to eBay.

I'm about 15 miles from their factory and have never felt the slightest urge to go check it out. I've never played one, yet don't feel like I'm missing anything. They may be great guitars, but nothing in their branding/marketing has ever made me want to find out.

I find the guy funny. Little of what I do is very nuanced, so I don't hear nearly as much difference in woods (if any) as many claim to, so as far as I know he could even be right.

I've yet to receive my preorder (arriving Tuesday) direct from the publisher and I'm on the same continent, so I doubt yours will be arriving this week.

Son of a....mine will also arrive a day sooner than originally posted...but that's still not till Tuesday! I gotta move to the east coast before vol II comes out

My order was placed 11/28/2012 and I was billed Tuesday without any form of followup contact.

Was the sax guitar there? I don't have any pictures of it either.

Increasing arthritis and joint issues prevent much progress at this point. I'm still learning, and playing, but I have to devote some time every now and again to finding ways of compensating for skills I'm losing.
