  1. I use Zymol here, on the polish buff wheel for final buff out, works very well, lacquer friendly. Hamer Dave, the only thing I can think of for the cloudy ness, break it all down, buff it out. But, the lacquer may be already tainted with whatever it was subjected to in it's past... It's a 50/50 chance that a 4 stage buff out could do the trick for you.
  2. sometimes. If the Lacquer has been subjected to less Lacquer freindly polishes, it will soften the lacquer, making it feel sticky, etc. see below \/ This is what happens when you buy a used guitar. what its past, is unknown.
  3. Naptha for cleaning Polish for polishing never anything water base on lacquer, it will fog it. (depends on the type, composition of the lacquer)
  4. nope, not for a very long time. the downtown VA building is a showcase PR/ AR facility upstairs, USA Plant rehab/ warranty / repair facility downstairs.
  5. Yes. warmoth supplied VA with necks, bodies built to spec. when I was at the GCS, Mike McGuire was my boss. Once in a while, VA fanbois would stop in and show Mike there VA's, Have them sign them, etc. Sad Happy moments for Mike.
  6. " I know everyone has their own tastes and such, but I truly do wonder if Ace die-hards hear something completely different than the rest of us " well, Ace, as well with some other limelighted guitarists, it is not just about "notes", etc. what I here is the swagger, slanky, spontaneous, fury, angst, raunch, juvenile, self taught approach to the guitar. Plenty of other players fit that bill in one way or other. Also to consider on the other side of the same coin... I was an impressionable teen when Kiss Alive came out. and to here a Les Paul through a couple of Marshall's cranked on 10, unknowing to me of anything guitar/ amp, and to me, sounding fucking god like... not god's right hand, but more like god's son of a bitch... that was it. I want that. that. that is what I hear.
  7. Having my morning cup of joe. sitting at my work bench. waking up to familiar past and present smells, piles of tools, sandpapers, solvents, I gaze over towards the wall of cornucopia hanging guitars in different stages of wip. I gaze over the drum set, set up in the middle of the area where my son was beating the skins prior I gaze over the pedal board, amp, chords, guitars with straps on and soiled, abused strings applied. another day begins. another day. One day at a time.
  8. yup, that's a lil more than previous. Been well traveled, if it is weak, well, it's going to show. If it breaks, I'll fix it up.
  9. Nope. what happened?
  10. what started as an idea, a phone conversation of, and then an overhaul, and then witnessing 5 going along it's merry way across the states, this is pretty cool. Bil would be giddy. Nice to see 5 on it's adventure out there, and kickin ass.
  11. it is a nashville plant made guitar. only a few les pauls/ models where made at Kalamazoo at the end of days, the last Les Pauls to push thru were the KM's. Also, Nashville was supplying Kalamazoo with necks, bodies, etc., just like what they do today between divisions. Some things never change, Most certainly with Gibson.
  12. that's Gibson. Gibson does not even know. reality. really.
  13. Oh, so many stories I could tell.....
  14. just send it to me, I'll take care of it for ya
  15. nails it. good eye Chris! you have skills!
  16. Just simply awesome. I just hope Mike takes to heart my request... this is going to be good
  17. Awesome.
  18. Yes indeedy.
  19. not much out there Jason. most shorty scale, Jackson Fusion, early chaps, etc. are floyd'd. Jackson did a run, pre fender, with a SLS, short scale, with a wilky type sustain block string thru bridge, ( I have one ) with humbuckers. Very rare, and do not come up for sale often. the Jackson USA fusions are about the most shreddy shorty's you can get, Like what I have listed. All with floyds thou.
  20. ^ This. Mike has got a lot on his plate, and needs #'s, head count, to crunch #'s to make it work, feasible, profitable. Going to be a while... But, it may be worth it
  21. well done Mitch. you can breath again I hope. well done.
