A few things on eBay
Feynman replied to Feynman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Hmmm - I am not sure what they sold for new. I bought this one from our own JohnnyThunders. I have never swapped the tubes, but according to the manual there is rebiasing involved. The bias control pot is available without opening up the amp, though. It supports a whole handful of different power tubes. Manual is here: http://www.groovetubes.com/pdfs/S45_Manual.pdf This amp and the GT-8 are the closest I have found to getting a pretty realistic bunch of usable tones from a modeler. The amp seems to give the digital effects a life they were missing. On its own, it is a very clean amp, even at high volumes. There are lots of controls to change the overall sound, but for the most part it just provides an assortment of cleans. The reverb is not so great, but it's not terrible either. There are a few threads on the Gear Page where people discuss their settings and impressions. I really like it quite a bit, but it's not in the cards at the moment. -
A few things on eBay
Feynman replied to Feynman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
That's the problem. I really don't know. I think the honest answer is I want the highest price it will sell for. If I sold it an HFCer, I'd just sell it for what I paid for it, but I could use the extra bucks this time around. They seem to vary a bit on eBay, some higher than I expect and some lower. So, to summarize, "I dunno." -
I need to sell a few more things, if anyone's interested. I'd offer them here first, but I try not to ever make money off of forum folks. I would like to make a few bucks on these if possible, so... Wish me luck. http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/classicgtr

Rant and warning - Snake Oil Strings

I paid with PayPal (linked to a checking account), so he received payment immediately. For me, this is just a fun experiment anyway. -

Got the strings yet? No strings, no communication, no confirmation of my order! This is exciting. -

HBD to two HFC badasses! Mr. Stuff, did you get a new Cali for your birfday? Hmm? Geoff, you always inspire me to either play better or walk away and drink more beer instead. -
Happy Birthday Austin (aka Atquinn)!!!

Go See (Insert Aging Performer Here) Before It's Too Late
Feynman replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Definitely go see SRV. My friend in high school invited me to an SRV concert, but I passed. A couple of years later he was gone. Shit. ZZ Top still seems to put on a good show. After my recent birthday gift, I'm going to add Leonard Cohen to the list. -
Happy Birthday! Hope it's a blast!

When were the best Hamer Standards made?
Feynman replied to BubbaVO's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
1997. -
Man, now I really want one! Even as a guitar, though, it would probably say someone else's name.

I think the regular Talladega (Talladega Amateur) is quite fascinating. I love the idea of a lightweight Fender scale sustain block with "big" single coils. I want one. I should stop reading this thread before I get stupid, though. What are the 4 positions on the switch - bridge, series, parallel, neck?
-
That is YOUR Vector. You just need to realize that before it's gone.

Should I email him and ask for a status? It's been nearly an hour. -
Congrats, sort of. I had all but decided to buy it, but it wasn't for sale long enough for me to make up my mind. Enjoy it!

OK - I just ordered a set of the Rock Formula 10s. Let's time it! -
First, I have no business being in this thread. With that out of the way, I feel like I have a keeper now. I think I'm going to have to vote for "wow." I used to look for features, thinking that if I owned only one guitar I want it to do everything (trem, frets, splits, piezo, LEDs, waffle iron). I also only bought guitars at great prices, as I was going to sell them sooner or later (mostly sooner). I wanted mint and pristine, all original without mods or significant work. I wanted (and still want) them to look cool. I feel pretty darn sure my Sunburst is a keeper. I love it. I say "wow" every time I play it - heck, every time I see it. It meets almost none of my former criteria. - I paid significantly more than market price - I then had it refretted (adding even more to the price) - I replaced a pickup (more $) - It has only (egad!) 22 frets - no trem - no coil splits - much finish checking, nicks, cracks, wear At this point I'd lose my ass if I tried to sell it, but I have absolutely no desire to anyway. So, I am calling this my keeper. I think it's the "wow" thing, as I've had resonant, great looking, great playing guitars in the past and have been able to sell them with no regret. Any reasonable person would be thrilled with any guitar I have owned; all top notch. So, ummm, "wow" is my answer. Oh, and it can't be a Peavey.

PSA: Friend's NOS Special FM on eBay
Feynman replied to Feynman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Fair question. I said the same thing myself. I thought so, too, but that's what his last shipment cost in the guitar box he has. I think he just ended up with a box that was a little too large to keep it inexpensive. I suggested that he cut the length down, and he will do what he can to minimize the cost. He also updated the listings to state that he would refund the shipping difference if it turned out to be less. I think it's too high as well, but it seems to vary based on the shipping distance. I know he's not out to make any money on shipping for what it's worth. -
PSA: Friend's NOS Special FM on eBay

"auction ends this weekend" bump for a good friend. I got to see this guitar. I dislike the term "mint," so I will say it's 99.999999999. He's also listed a Les Paul Standard Premium Turbo Ultra Plus if anyone wants one of those. Thanks for looking. -
That is beautiful.

Hmm.

PSA: Friend's NOS Special FM on eBay
Feynman replied to Feynman's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Just a bump to mention it as a PSA. This is my good friend's other NOS Hamer snag. He has decided to keep only the T51, so this one is up for grabs. It's "mint" and appears to be unplayed; from the same guitar store stock as the wraptail he just sold. He's also a really good guy. Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=tab%3DWatching
