1980 Sunburst with Ebony fretboard and crown inlays!
crunchee replied to Redrockeater's question in Ask the HFC Experts
I've not seen a USA Hamer (early or otherwise) with a three-screw truss rod cover before. Not unless somebody modified it, anyway. -

Butchered Hamer Monaco III

It probably says something when Peavey 'recycled' the idea for the FatHead and started calling it the 'PowerPlate'. What's ancient history is now new again: What's the deal with the back of this headstock? | TalkBass.com -
I had been looking for a decent but not horribly expensive uke to strum on for the last few years. I found this recently (used) and I bought it: Fender Montecito Tenor Ukulele - Natural | Reverb This particular uke is the 'V1' version of the Montecito that was made from 2017 up to the last couple of years. The version I have has a Tele style headstock, laminated Koa body, solid Indian Rosewood fretboard and bridge (Fender calls it 'sonokeling'), and a solid Koa top, but no electronics, so it's purely acoustic unless I want to retrofit a pickup. The current 'V2' Montecito has a Strat style headstock, walnut fretboard and does have electronics, but the body and top are Koa laminate. I dunno if the solid Koa top makes a huge difference or not. All I know is it sounds really good, projects well and is plenty loud, and the solid Koa top won't hurt resale value at all. It's made in Indonesia and is surprisingly well made (definitely not junk!). Only big gripe is that the included (original) Fender gig bag is basically a dust cover with NO padding; thankfully, I had a spare gig bag that is a little oversize but padded well so it's now well protected. I did some shopping around before I chose this particular model. There aren't many inexpensive Ukes out there with any solid woods for the top/soundboard (the next cheapest models I've found are the Mexican-made Martin Ukes, which supposedly use all solid woods, but are practically double the price new or used, and that's before tariffs). Anyway, I'm happy with it. Fender Montecito Tenor Ukulele - REVIEW Fender Montecito Ukulele review | MusicRadar Now it's time for me to hit up YooToob for some uke playing ideas:

Just saw this new in stock at DGS, so that means that you can probably get them from other Fender dealers now, too (I have no affiliation with any of this, BTW): Buck Owens Kingman™ – Fender DGS also had one of the Teles in stock recently, but it's sold now. I like the newest Buck Tele version better than older versions (even MIJ ones), as the bodies are made of alder, not basswood. Though they ain't cheap: Buck Owens Telecaster® – Fender

The idea of an artist re-recording their old recordings/hits is nothing new. Even Taylor Swift has re-recorded her early albums. But as always, the mileage/results you get from a 'new' version from the original artist of an old recording may vary: John Fogerty Is Re-Recording Creedence Classics. No Love For Blackface Bandmasters

There are definite design differences between a 'regular' reverb-less Bandmaster and the Bandmaster Reverb, but at the end of the day it all depends on your ears and hands: -
No Love For Blackface Bandmasters

IMO, I think the old big-head BMRs are underrated...if you look at the specs and the schematic, they look a lot to me like the same year Super Reverb, except you don't have to haul the amp and speakers all at once. It's a lot easier on the shins too, since you don't have a loaded 4x10 amp banging you in the shins every time you take a step. -

Once upon a time, I had two mid-90s USA Hamer Standards (no maple veneer top, just all mahogany), but only one came with a TKL 'USA' case, the other had a 'import' TKL case, both of which were made in Canada. The difference? One had 'USA' in small letters next to the Hamer logo on the lid, the other one just had the Hamer logo on the lid, no 'USA'. Otherwise, the cases were identical in all other respects. I didn't lose sleep over it. -

Well that's just great, now we've got stoopid buyers. Great if you're selling, not so much if you actually need the thing and/or don't have the money. -

Seems like I've seen a Robin very similar to that one, except in sunburst...
