  1. And lowest price is not always the antithesis of best deal either. For service after the sale I either do it myself or use local people and everyone benefits.
  2. When have consumers not been concerned with getting the beal deal for their dollars?
  3. That's not just an eBay thing. I've always heard people talk about winning something at an auction - when in fact they bought it. I don't know if it's still around or not, but before I did anything on eBay, I used to buy stuff on Ubid. Now there's some new site advertising on TV - I think it's Beezid? So there are other places out there, eBay has just been the most successful so far. I've mostly had good luck on eBay. I've bought quite a good bit of stuff and only gotten bit once, and that was really my fault because I didn't contact the seller and complain about the piece I bought. I'm afraid that the policies that we don't like on eBay are most likely not eBay's fault, but the fault of the people who refuse to conduct business ethically and they would be there in any type of selling venue. The internet just makes it easier for them. They eventually get found out and kicked off, but they are the ones who cause a lot of the policies that chafe the rest of us. YMMV.
  4. +1 hurry back!
  5. That is too cool! Oh no! GAS attack!
  6. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. Every guitar is different and I set the controls to what sounds right for the night and play. For that matter the same guitar can sound different with identical amp and guitar settings, but in a different room. So, I don't get real uptight about fretboard material, neck size and profile - I just play 'em. Maybe that's because I'm just mediocre!
  7. Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune Robben Ford - Soul on Ten
  8. We have a WZEW here that calls itself the "ZEW". It used to be a really good station. Used to be...
  9. Not until Jol grows a chest!
  10. Unbelievable!
  11. Get him views???? Let's get him a shirt - or a poncho - or a tent!
  12. Although I have Peavey SS that I have used a few times for a very few gigs where a straight clean tone was called for - my go-to rig is a '66 Deluxe Reverb with a Blues Jr for backup.
  13. And the Tele is a highly underrated guitar. It's very versatile.
  14. We've been playing together (same three guys) for over 16 years. We have a couple of restaurant gigs where we have been playing there for over 6 years. We play a mixture of covers and originals. One of the comments I hear most is we play the things they like to hear. We have a pretty wide range - from John Mayer to Fats Waller - and I think that explains a lot of it. You have to have a good variety and be willing to change your game plan if people aren't responding. You also have to realize that - like an earlier post said - it's not about the music. It's about the venue selling drinks, food, whatever their stock in trade is. It's also about being easy to work with, willing to adjust to the needs of the venue, being on time and set up and ready for any problems that might arise during the night. I had an amp just before the first song of the night. I walked out the truck and brought in the spare and we started on time. That's what a club owner manager wants to see.
  15. Glad to hear it. Stay well.
  16. My bass player got a new Gibson. He played one gig with it (outside and hot) and the finish where his right arm touched it turned white. Gibson charged him big bucks to refinish it. No more Gibsons for him!
  17. Snoring, zonked out giraffes! Great story.
  18. He used to play some clubs down here before Idol. He was always good.
  19. Anyone here use www.webstrings.com? I've bought several sets from them at under $3.00 per set and I have been satisfied with them.
  20. And he promised United there will be more videos! Don't you know they are starting to wish they had done the right thing?
  21. I guess I've been lucky. I've watched baggage handlers treat my guitar with care and the one time I was forced to check my guitar in a gig bag(!) because of an idiot ticket counter supervisor, the airport in Philly very thoughtfully put it in an open crate for the trip on the baggage carousel and it arrived without a scratch.
  22. Good equipment's expensive - good hands are priceless!
  23. I use a Keeley modded Sparkle Drive. It's a lot better than the original. Robert is a great guy to deal with, too.
  24. I have a Chinese made SATQ and it's a great guitar. I gig with it every week. It still has the Duncan Designed pickups. The only complaint that I have had is that the tuners could be better. The tone is just awesome.
