I really do believe that Mike poured his heart and soul into that band and DT will never be the same without him. He's got an incredible work ethic, that cannot be denied (how many side projects did he do while still churning out DT albums at an incredible rate?) I do think he just got bored and was always looking for something more to do, maybe he found some new energy with A7X. I'm guessing he had some fun with their stuff and wants to tour with them. I wouldn't be surprised if he returns to DT though when he gets bored with them and realizes they aren't half the musicians the DT guys are.

I'm confident in Hamers because its a brand that I know I can get a great instrument sight unseen. Thats important for a lefty, we can't just run out to the local store and try the new XYZ model to see how it plays and sounds. If there was something that played and sounded better for less money I'd be playing that but it just doesn't happen. Maybe its not a perfect instrument or a perfect company (I'm not even sure what that would be) but for me its as good as I've ever found.

Just when I think I'm starting to understand some of this repair stuff a thread like this comes along and slams me back to earth. I couldn't even fathom how to do this repair even when he was posting the half completed pics, I still couldn't see how it would work. I love these threads and love a happy ending. How many times had that headstock been broken? I see some biscuits in there that I'm assuming were an older repair. I'm also assuming that whoever did that repair was not the one that covered it in bondo.

I want to see one that was too far gone now for Greg to fix. A pile of painted splinters?

That would totally depend on the person and the situation. I don't know any other lefties around here so nobody really ever asks to borrow one of my guitars. I'd be happy to let any of the other lefty HFCers try any of mine out if they ever got around this area but chances of that are slim being in the middle of nowhere like I am.
