  1. Welcome aboard
  2. GAH! You're killin me with that bass Peter! If I had some money I would totally take that off your hands.
  3. Oh good, I can call my 4x12 "reliced" now and charge more!
  4. I haven't heard anyone mention Bullet for my valentine yet, might give them a spin. Iced Earth is pretty good for straight up metal. Exodus' atrocity exhibition is just brutal-makes you want to punch somebodys mother. Machine Head has alot of good stuff out there. Sevendust would be a good one too. Gamma Ray is good if you can handle more of the power metal stuff.
  5. So far nobody has been able to answer the question- if you ding your relic guitar is it worth more or less? From a buying and selling standpoint a relic would seem to hold value better than a brand new looking guitar if you actually took it out and played it and dinged it? I can see the point on wearing down the edges of the fretboard and stuff but why ding them all up? Then again, I never bought ripped jeans either.
  6. As I recall, when you sold it -it was nothing but a body stripped to bare wood. The next owner did the full restoration and refinish to bring it to what you see in the photo. Freud would have a field day with this little point/counterpoint. Dave, I've seen Jason01 posting pictures of that Phantom on here many times and basically (by the way he words his comments or captions about it) makes it seem like he owned it in that condition or restored it to that condition when in fact he didn't. Give some credit to the dude who actually did the work. At least put a disclaimer like most of us do when posting pictures off other people's guitars that "this is not my guitar" or tell people that when you sold it it was nothing more than a stripped bare piece of wood. I know I wouldn't want someone taking credit for my hard work. I'm sorry, I would have thought by now for how many times I have said Hellrider67 did the refin on that guitar that it would have been redundant to post it again. He took that pic too btw. The title of the thread was black guitars and since others had posted guitars that were no longer in their posession I figured that one was fair game to include. My apologies if I've made it sound somewhere like I was trying to take credit for the work he did on it. I'm pretty sure in one of the lasts posts on the WTB phantom GT thread I made it quite clear who did the refin on the guitar.
  7. I can play the black Hamer game For some reason I just can't bring myself to let this one go. None more black! Gone but not forgotten Another one thats moved on
  8. What about a tuck n roll kustom amp? They look vintage cool and there are plenty of them out there in that price range.
  9. I vaguely remember that guitar from a few years back on the HFC.
  10. Happy birthday Poe!
  11. Thanks for taking us through the restoration of this guitar, this has been one of my favorite threads ever on the HFC. I love seeing stuff like this brought back from the dead. You better put a little tiger on it somewhere, that thing eats zebras. To me that guitar looks better than new.
  12. We can't post watson pics, you have them both.
  13. I'm glad to see it ended up with someone that has the skills to make it what it should be. All the pieces fit now when you look back at the auction. I was really wondering why they would have binding and a retop under the zebra? I look forward to seeing more of this one as work progresses on it. I can't believe someone did that to that guitar in recent times knowing what four digit standards are worth!
  14. Why in gods name would anyone buy that many cheap crap guitars?
  15. I know I'll probably be ostracized for this one but I think 5150 is still my favorite VH album. VH1 would be a close second.
  16. I can see - Vanden Plas Darkness Surrounding - Avenged Sevenfold One Big Rush - Joe Satriani The World On Fire - The Doors Rest in Peices - Metal Church Don't Stop Me Now - Queen Scarlet - U2 Baby Raper - Stephen Lynch Mind's I - Forbidden Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan - Sweet Home Chicago No Ipod so I just hit shuffle on my media player and theres the first ten that came out.
  17. I just can't even hear slayer now without this popping into my head.
  18. I got volume 2 with the largo bonus disk for christmas and watched it. I am a big Kiss fan and that bonus disk was the real reason I wanted to get it (Dynasty was my first LP). I watched the Largo disk anxiously and was hugely disappointed. The sound was crap, the video was bad, the band played like crap (paul even forgot the words at one point) and you could just see that the band was falling apart and no one was having fun anymore. If that show would have been my first exposure to the band there probably would never have been a second. That said though, there was also some really good stuff on Volume 2. The Sydney 1980 show was fantastic! The stuff in Rio with Vinny Vincent playing was cool to see too. If you've seen Kiss Exposed you've seen snippets of whats on here.
  19. I think it was last year that Kiss was in the VH-1 rock honors. Ace played sans make-up with a compilation group before kiss came out and played. I would love to know if Gene and Paul knew beforehand that Ace was going to be there onstage. It sure seemed odd to see him there and Tommy Thayer there playing in full "Ace Frehley" mode. Plus, at the closing credits Ace was jumping up on Gene and you could tell from his expression that Gene was not happy about it. Ace made me want to be a lead guitar player before I even knew what a lead guitar player was and it would be damn cool just to meet him and say thanks. Its strange that Kiss isn't recording albums anymore. For as long as I can remember I've been listening to them and it kind of became a soundtrack to my life since I could always remember times in my life in relation to what album they had done.
  20. Holy crap the kids over 3 feet long!
  21. Did you look at the neck joint? Thats gonna take a miracle to rework.
  22. Here's a couple pics of what a real GT looks like underneath the guard (and paint for that matter!). It was already stripped and poorly refinished when I got it so don't flame me for stripping it. and an after pic
  23. Phantom GT. The GTs only had one pickup.
