Actually, neither. It was right handed and I don’t mind the G&L headstock. I’m sure it’ll sound silly to most. But, I was never a fan of the traditional Tele control layout. The switch is clunky and it’s annoying to ride the volume knob when the switch is all the way back. If I’m going to spend custom shop prices then I want the controls to be effortless to reach and to use. I’ll take a standard Tele control layout on a $1,000 guitar all day long. But for 4-5x the price, I’m going to be very picky and it will be exactly what I want and where I want. That rosewood neck, tho… 🍆

It’s not just you. That’s one of the first comparisons I made in my mind when I listened to his first album. -
Anyone listening to Eddie Van Halen's kid?
Travis replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Nope. Wolf said himself in an interview that his dad was not a good teacher. Eddie would just show him some crazy EVH lick and be all, “just do this.” Probaly like that old REH/Hot Licks video of Yngwie saying, “and now I’ll play it slow” then proceed to play it faster than people can comprehend… The best players rarely make the best coaches… As far as the swing…. I would be more apt to think he learned that while playing bass on tour with his dad and uncle for several years as opposed to being born with it. He said himself in response to the “genes” thing, he’s been playing for over 20 years. He put his time in. Nothing but mad respect for the kid. -

[Sold]: Mirage II
Travis replied to MPR's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Yes, those came stock with a JB/59 combo. Mine did, as did my Mirage Maple Top. I had Josh rewind the JB/59 in my koa Mirage II and had him wind a set for me from scratch for my Maple Top. Both guitars are absolutely killer. Only thing I would change about the Mirages is the location of the 5-way switch. It’s annoying to get to quickly when the trem bar is in. Otherwise, fantastic players with very comfortable mid 90’s Hamer medium C necks. edited to add that I put the Mann vintage bridge on both my koa Mirages. (Maple Top still has the stock Wilkinson bridge). The Mann bridge is a solid upgrade. I approve. 😉 -

Gibson seeks chronlogically incorrect instrument

The flux capacitor inside the case is a nice touch. -
pulled out the tally to give her a little love and attention earlier today. New strings, polished the frets, and oiled the fretboard. Stung her back up and man, this thing rings out acoustically like crazy. #accousticvoice

Cool video. Checked out their website. They’ve got a ton of really nice stuff on there from some high end brands. I could get lost in there for a few hours…

Nuno Bettencourt launches Nuno guitars
Travis replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Watched/listened to that this morning on my commute. seems like he’s following the Ola Englund/Zakk Wylde route but might be a few years too late. Nuno was the only reason why Washburn guitars had an identity after the 90’s. The Grover Jackson designed Washburns were some killer guitars but what have they done since? Didn’t they move all of their production overseas and contract out the N4’s to a third party builder…? -

NEW Jackson Pro Origins 1985 San Dimas
Travis replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I like them, but not enough to get one. I’m just out of the whole Floyd phase… I do really like some of the new Charvel pro mods. The pink H/H with the fixed bridge is tempting… -
