I'm totally down. Been looking for a while. Pm and email on the way. -
Hey Bro! I had forgotten your birthday was the day before Annie's. Have an awesome birthday, Pal. Geoff

Howdy folks! I'm looking to sell my silverface Princeton Reverb and was looking for help on the listing. When I bought it, I believe he told me it was a '70 or '71. No mods aside from a 3-prong cord. Older version without the pull-boost. How do I find out what year, and any other pertinent specs? Thanks! Geoff

Curious about the baggs system. Was it factory or aftermarket install? I have a student who's looking to install one on his LP. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. -
Butler tube driver verses Ibanez TK999US?
geoff_hartwell replied to SteveB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
What's a hand-made Barber Direct Drive worth? I bought one directly from him the day the first review came out in GP, and he sent it to me with hand-written silver sharpie on the casing. They obviously use screen printing now, but what's the original worth? -
How it feels to be an idiot...

I did the exact same thing once with active pickups in a bass after wasting several very expensive hours of studio time. A painful but valuable lesson for me! Geoff -
Butler tube driver verses Ibanez TK999US?

And the Radial Tri-Mode is a great, rugged alternative that also has the added benefit ot two tweakable and footswitchable sounds that are very much in the Tube Driver Realm. -
Butler tube driver verses Ibanez TK999US?
geoff_hartwell replied to SteveB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I don't have any experience with the Ibanez TK's (old and new) but from what I understand many people use them interchangably. I do, however, have one of the new handmade BK Butler Tube Drivers and the thing is amazing. He asked me some questions about the sound I was going for, and I was overjoyed out of the box. It plays nice with all manner of amps and boxes. Incredibly musical and dynamic. It also helped that he made three that week- I was told one went to me and the other two went to David Gilmour!!! -

Cool band name but the wrong group

Death Cab for Cutie From what I understand, they got it from "Magical Mystery Tour". Can anyone authenticate that? Last time I saw it, was during college and I was... in college... -
Two great opposite examples: Don MacLean - American Pie. If you want to download the song, you have to buy the whole album. 10 bucks a pop. And he does THREE, count em THREE versions of the song when he plays live. Which he still does, with his signature model Martin. Jim Rebhorn - Character Actor. Went to college with Annie's mom. Been in a bazillion movies (he was the snivelling "Yes man" to the president in Independance Day, he was the expert witness in My Cousin Vinny, etc) In any case, there are lots of ways to make a living. I've known people that teach 70 students and never play gigs, guys that do pit band or cruise ship gigs, praise and worship gigs, etc. There's no limit of gigs to be had, it's just a matter of balancing your life so it's full in all the ways you need. Songs that are Perfect or Near-Perfect Short Stories
geoff_hartwell replied to Pieman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Check out Richard Shindell's first three albums. His Live Disc "Courier" is a great overview of those tunes, but he's a KILLER when it comes to narrative. Oh Yeah, and AMERICAN GIRL by Tom Petty gets better every time I listen to it. DAMN I wish I wrote that song... -
New Standard Arrival!
geoff_hartwell replied to geoff_hartwell's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Crap, now his amp is sideways Hahahaha! I posted the original sideways version because when it loaded up I was standing sideways but the amp and guitar in the background were "right side up". It made me giggle because I actually got vertigo in my seat for a second as I was looking. -
New Standard Arrival!
geoff_hartwell replied to geoff_hartwell's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
THANKS! The upward angle exaggerates the height. But as a general rule, I set the strap length when I'm sitting down practicing so that when I stand up the placement is the same. "Play where you practice". Otherwise you sacrifice a ton of agility for a "look"- But hey, whatever works for you. There's already *another* piece of madness in the works... heh, heh, heh... should arrive in a few weeks. (not a standard though...further bulletins as events warrant...) -
Howdy folks! Usually I stick to my Duotones as my main live guitars, but I just got this standard and it RULES! Chambered, Bound and Crowned. Plays and sounds like a dream. Check her out: http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i260/geo...atLucysLoun.jpg Also- BIG THANKS to my friends Matt Smith, David Koltai (Pigtronix Effects) and Adam Smirnoff (Robert Randolph Band, Lettuce) for coming out to my jam last night and tearing it up!

I've heard conflicting reports about what type of signal you should feed it (Full range music on iPod vs. drum machine etc.) and I had an idea- If you're using it as a guitar speaker, why not play what you normally play into a Loop Station or Jam Man and let it repeat for as long as you wish? That way it would be like you're actually breaking it in by PLAYING; Rather than feeding it a signal for the sake of it, get 'er used to what she'll actually be called upon to do! Geoff

This is a great review. The last line might sting a little, but it will definitely get more people out to see you than "The bassist is a mad man who drools blood and spits fire". And for your press kit and review quotes, you can always leave it out Congrats, brother! Keep fightin the good fight!
