2011 HFC Year In Review... Best Posts, Best Buys, etc.

The most compelling in 2011 was the realization of my long time guitar project with luthier Ronny Scheithauer here in Germany. Unfortunately not Hamer built, but it had so many thoughts invested in and was so individual that it surely made sense to select a luthier to drive up in case of necessity. Other than that, I was happy to be able to help out a couple of HFC'ers, see my son's band Daily Friday develop, see both older boys playing together on stage for the first time with the school band, and had many nice discussions on the board. Nothing to bother though. -
ya know, the prototypes upper horn isn't too gumby looking. that one would prolly look badass w/o the pickguard. are there unsighly routes under there? maybe a see thru plexi guard would help. maybe its just me, but pickguards scream "cheap guitar", and the prototype doesn't actually need one (rear routed controls, & pups mounted in rings). Like this? Funny thing - it is the very same guitar! Yup. It has had a tort and a white pearloid guard before too. I thought it looked great with the clear guard. Hey, I can't see you guys suffering an ugliest guitar. Treefiddy and you are relieved. Send it over the pond. It could still arrive until XMas.

It looks like we have lost the birthday list. Any chance to get it back or is it there and I haven't seen it?

It's taking shape. Nice HFC logo appears at the top end. Would it make sense to add a shopping link to address funding on memorability sales? The T-Shirts and mugs I bought recently are quite nice. I'd recommend the link centered between the logo and search at the top.

A whole bunch of deleted mails came back to the message box.

Fiddled with the new version a bit. I have the impression the layout could be more compact. There is quite a lot of visual space taken for no function with the current layout template. We are frequently returning users who require efficiencies. Other than that, the new version offers new features that will need to be discovered for usefulness. Thanks again.

Looks really great. Gotta find all the new features. Many thanks and congrats to a superb job.

Resident 1st Generation Slammer Series Expert Needed
gorch replied to Crimsontider's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
At the end of the day it is all about sound. If you mess with the sound, experiment with pickups. If you mess with pickups swap the guitar. Don't hesitate to test a wide range of pickups, even if it eventually becomes a Jazz guitar. At least you would find out what's best sounding on the wood. (Which was the case with my MIK Standard) You cannot change the wood. You can only change the body or the whole guitar. To make clear why only a few people here have knowledge about wood. On a budget guitar like the XT line or Slammer Series line no one typically questions the wood and/or the production numbers are as high that no one would ever have an overview, not even Hamer wood would. For the US made Hamers speaking, knowledge is more detailed due to the nature of custom orders and the nature of a custom shop as a whole. Finally, and that is a great outcome of this thread, Asian alder is different to US Alder or even European Alder. The same applies to other woulds woods. -

The body is certainly not made of one piece. Does that lead to any decision? -
You are charming Zen. I'm gonna ask my drummer for the brushes. His name is Dr. Rhythm.

It happens after a hard working day that I sit there in my little room relaxing with my new guitar in hands playing a slow blues improvisation against a Dr. Rhythm before going to bed. I thought to share a late evening moment with you. Head and tail trimmed a bit. Other than that it's a rough cut improvisation with all implications. Guitar is my new Red Special Bo Diddley played straight into a Vox AC-15 H1TVL dimmed with a Weber. Recorded with an H2. I think I played the neck pickup only. Pick is a brass Indonesian 50 Rupiah. Rise the volume to experience dynamics. http://soundcloud.com/gorch_de/slowbluesjam It turned out to become exactly tree minutes with no fiddy. Perfect cut so to say. Enjoy!

I've seen all the new XT models at Frankfurt Musikmesse 2011. They are all stunning and are perfectly crafted. The prices are excellent. It couldn't be a better deal in that league. -
Shitty shit. These guitars create lust.

Alles Gute!

Very nice story of a dedicated professional being deadly tied to the never-change-a-running-system strategy finally coming to new life. You never stop to learn. Congrats Kev. Keep us posted about your first life experiences with the new pup. Cheers! -
Order received two days ago. Large coffee mug and Stein look nice. I haven't had them in the washer yet. Tees look nice and seem to be of reasonable quality. Hopefully, they stand the washing machine.
