belgian Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 In almost perfect condition, Humbucker was changed to Gibson Paf. I almost feel guilty on the price : 400 Euro - 500 $.
discountsounds Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Wow - Daddy like. Nice score, especially at that price.
hardheartedbill Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 man that is nice, fantastic score! whats the neck feel like?
MCChris Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Wow, looks to be in great condition! Nice score! An '81 Proto was my first Hamer. Enjoy yours!

belgian Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 The neck feels almost like my '94 duo-tone, thicker than my '78 sunburst. The fretwire used is thicker than on my other Hamers.Does anyone knows if the case is original ? There are no Hamer signs on it.
MCChris Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 is that really you? You serious? The funny thing is, that was taken when I was doing the band thing full-on, and drinking and smoking accordingly. Now I'm doing much less of that stuff yet I look 1000 times worse. Delayed reaction, I guess. That and the fact that I can actually afford food now, thus the 40 additional pounds LOL! Don't worry, belgian ... playing an '81 Proto won't necessarily make you gay. It was just a phase I was going through ...

silentman Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 playing an '81 Proto won't necessarily make you gay. It was just a phase I was going through ... That shirt and hat and you're halfway there LOL! Just kidding of course.

serial Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I've seen Hamer cases w/o logos before. That one looks like a standard red-lined '80s Hamer case to me!
peedenmark7 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 belgian, I knew you'd be happy with that proto ! congrats and enjoy. they are indeed wonderful guitars ! reminds me of the one that flynn bros. in chicago had a few yrs a go... chris...you dont look gay ...thats just the way things were back in the day... hell I wore makeup and had white hair at one point ... and that was about as close to gay as you could possibly get... worked well visually with my cracked dayglo custom proto though... I cant believe I even mentioned that....

phoenix Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Thats amazing. Especially since you could sell the PAF for 4 times what you paid for the guitar. easy. a good set of blacks are 5k it seems. cremes are over 10 now.
JohnnyB Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 In almost perfect condition, Humbucker was changed to Gibson Paf.Do you mean it was changed to a 1957-1959 vintage Gibson PAF ???If you do, holy moly!
Michael_ Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Soon my 81 Proto will look alot like that. I'm taking all of the finish off...gorgeous!
serial Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Michael-what does your '81 Prototype look like now? Reason I ask is that I have a stripped one (headstock face and logo intact) that I was looking to put some finish back ON. I don't like natural finishes at all... I might be up for a trade in that case and save you the paint stripping job!
