zipstew Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Hey Hamer Fans- I hate to do this but I need to sell my SSII. To give a few details on the guitar, I bought it from it's first owner who got it directly from the factory with a few special features like his initials painted on the guitar and the really cool LED inlays on the neck. It's been well played and has normal wear and tear. It has a Seymour Duncan SH-4 in the bridge position and a single coil Rio Grande Halfreed Tele pickup in the neck position. It has two control knobs, one volume and the other tone (which can pull up and out-of-phase the bridge pickup) with a three position toggle. Here is a quick picture in it's glory  If you are interested you can view more lousy photos at the following link. I have been offered $525 for this green glory already and will consider other offers from an avid SSII fan. Thanks for looking! http://s127.photobucket.com/albums/p149/zipstew/ Garth Parker zipstew@yahoo.com Los Angeles, CA

zipstew Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Sumthin is starting ta smell funny??? :angry:Hey kurtsstuff-Maybe we should shower first before comments like that. I'm a serious artist in the need of some money and also serious about not selling a guitar in a sort-of-working order. I have spent a lot of time and effort to get as much info to everyone as possible and in the guitar in the best shape. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I first started my thread. My first notion as I went through the guitar clean up and picture taking was to ask about $500. Since having posted the pictures and more information I have had offers much more and been told by long time HFC members that $500 is less than I could get from a pawnshop. I might as well take the guitar to Goodwill.I was extremely serious about giving gatorbytte first dibs, even on offers that were a hundred or so more. Now that I have an idea of what the guitar is worth I can get together with gatorbytte and see where he is at. I've also received notes saying that gatorbytte is a good guy which adds even more to my intentions. With that said, can you blame me for wanting to post my guitar through the proper channels on this forum? Message board for messages, selling board for selling...right?

mattb Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 If you asked for the first offer over 500 and dont take it I say bullshit.
marcnorth Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Sumthin is starting ta smell funny??? Bologna frying.
Imiss85 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 So what's with the slits under the non factory pickguard?Considering that, I'd go $350.
hamertek98 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 That's some funny friggin' crap... right there. I'll bite ....I'll give ya 6 hundred.

I'm good for another week.. Sorry that I blew up a bit kurtsstuff. Thanks for your note. As for other comments, and as I have told other individuals, the black marks under the pickguard are stains left behind from the previous owner's use of black spongy foam for his home made pickguard. It is what it is. Since this is a selling forum, please let's try to keep personal comments aside. Any questions about my guitar I will gladly answer.
Stokesdead Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 take it easy on him. He just wants to get what he can out of the guitar.Everyone here would do the same.~Stokes
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 take it easy on him. He just wants to get what he can out of the guitar.Everyone here would do the same. Not true. He needs to post a price. This isn't E-bay and stuff like this only causes problems. He should either post a price and stick to it, or put it on ebay and let the chips fall.

Then he could say or best offer and take offers as well.~Stokesdead
peedenmark7 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Bingo this is reminiscent of the armstrong sunburst , the [2] '77 sunbursts of late, and the host of others that came fishing values this summer. cant blame anyone but ourselves for letting this happen... theres only so many guitar to go around and we all want them... yes ,its hard to argue with the guys that want fresh blood here to potentially buy a newbs interesting piece, but these postings always turns into a forum sponsored auction. usually the newb is chased away or has no use for this site after the sale anyway. so........................ I've said it before, there really should be a mandatory posting rule b4 one can add to the classifieds and there should be a price on all postings or suffer automatic AD deletion and or forum suspension for posting prior to that posting limitation. this is common practice on many forums. I personally didnt care for this on the JCF at first, but it seems to help and am all for it today. this would also save some space in us not covering this over and over...  :)
sw686blue Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 This is really getting out of hand. Stewzip asked about the going rate for these type of guitars and no one has, to my knowledge, replied to him. I haven't a clue to what these are worth but my gut tells me it's a little more than the proverbial $350 and the $500 he initially asked for.It would be kind of sh*tty if he came here looking for help only to sell off his guitar at a price that is well below street.
Jimbilly Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I'll take a shot at value: I think $700-$800 is market value. An SSII w/ dots in good-played shape is worth about $600, add $300 for the working LEDs, subtract $100-$200 for the pickguard, marks and initials. Everyone feel free to comment. No offense, but I don't think auctions are allowed here, I think that's been the policy in the past (but it's not enforced like on the Jackson forum for example). Good luck selling a super-cool guitar! I've got an '87 SSII and it just kills, I love it, it's my favorite Hamer.
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 It would be kind of sh*tty if he came here looking for help only to sell off his guitar at a price that is well below street.Good point, and I completely agree. I personally think he should put it on E-bay. The guitar is a hard one to place a value on IMHO. I say this for a couple of reasons....1. It has a unique finish, but that finish also has the original owners initials.2. Odd color3. After market guardCouple that with the fact that very few of these guitars have the LEDs and you have a *very* unique guitar that is hard to place a value on.Killer guitar in every way, and I would love to have it. But I am not getting into a bidding war on this forum. E-bay would be a different story.I'll take a shot at value: I think $700-$800 is market value. It's kind of hard to get a value of this guitar due to the unique features that it has.
BCR Greg Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Saying that "I'll take the first offer over $500", getting an offer of $525 and still going is crap.He offered a piece at a price, was met, and still goes on.Gator should own the guitar.
