BCR Greg Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Amberburst Quilt top on a cool slim neck 92 Sunburst. Big logo, "Sunburst" under the "Hamer", gorgeous board, Duncans. Great shape, if it had a big neck I'd keep it. $1199
silentman Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Cool guitar. That neck would be silentman approved, I bet.
tgoss Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Entertaining any trades?See my signature for what I've got.
BCR Greg Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 Nice stuff, but I have tons of guitars.Get in the car and drive over here, mister! LOL
Navigator Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Yeah. Nice looking axe. I'm curious: What difference does the slim neck carve make on the balance of the guitar? Is it any less neck heavy than the more recent Studio Customs with the bigger necks?
BCR Greg Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 I have not seen a neck heavy situation on any newer guitars, there is hardly more than a couple ounces of wood difference between the thinner and thicker necks. This thing has NO neck heavy issues, it is stable as hell on a strap. If the sun ever comes out again, I'll get a pic that will BLAST your eyes....
Guest pirateflynn Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 That finish in the soft light looks beautiful. If I'm not mistaken Jimbilly has a Sunburst from the same time period with that finish and it is stunning.
silentman Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 IMO, the solid bodied hamers have no neck dive issues. It's the artists, duotones, and chambered guitars that have problems.
Navigator Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Thanks for the reality check guys. I've just gotten a 2001 Studio Custom and I think what I was initially taking for neck heaviness was a combination of the increased weight (compared to my strat) and different balance, not to mention that fact that I had it a bit too low on the strap. After a few days, it feels just right. Anyway, that archtop is a thing of beauty. If I hadn't just picked up my studio I'd be all over that quiltop.IMO, the solid bodied hamers have no neck dive issues. It's the artists, duotones, and chambered guitars that have problems.
BCR Greg Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Any more photos for us to drool over? Case? I'll take more tomorrow, that was a quick one as the rain parted for a few hours. Oh, the case is original and very clean.
Jimbilly Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Nope, I have no Sunbursts, closest in my collection is a '94 Studio custom in '59 burst, and an '82 Special FM with a sunburst finish.
BCR Greg Posted November 4, 2006 Author Posted November 4, 2006 BUMP! Greg what happened to more pic's? 40+ guitars waiting at the repair bench, no sunshine, preChristmas customers tirekicking... Anyone that wants detailed shots, I will gladly take more for interested parties. Clearly it is a killer guitar.
