srvwannab Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 The price is $2,500- and I know I shouldn't sell it. Please do a search on "Zandard" for the specs.Incredible guitar. I'm probably going to go the Ebay route but I wanted to be sure the faithful had a chance, if interested.Thanks-Joe
bubs_42 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 NO reply's, what the hell! Don't you have a 91 standard too?

cmatthes Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 # 79... ...and the elusive "correct" headstock logo :
Travis Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Here's the question, other than the collectability, what makes them that different from a run of the mill Standard Custom (pickup swaps, etc. not included)? I'm talking about playability, feel, sound, etc. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade by any means. I'm just trying to see if I can justify one of these over my Mahogany Standard or getting a plain Jane Standard Custom.....
elduave Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I spec'd it out very much for Cheap Trick fans. That's a large part of the appeal (for me anyway). It plays and feels like most current Standard Customs but sounds a bit different with that Dimarzio PAF in the bridge (more cut/edge IMO). I think the fact that Jol added some tweaks on his own raises the cool factor. I dunno, it's a matter of personal taste I suppose. I'm gonna go play mine now...

I'm just trying to see if I can justify one of these over my Mahogany Standard or getting a plain Jane Standard Custom..........just back from the gig. I took the #78 and my 99 Std Custom. Here's how the two compare:#78 is a great deal heavierthe body is a smidge thicker (I had them laying side by side on a table, showing them to my bro-in-law)#78's headstock logo is in the correct 'era specific' location. #78 has a DiMarzio & a chrome Duncan '59 - Std Customs usually have JBs & 59s (methinks)I think the #78 sounds a bit more like my Les Pauls than the Std Custom, which has it's own thing going on tonally. (points for the #78 on that)That's all I can type, cause I'm pooped! Goodnite yall!
sirDaniel Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I think I speak for a TON of people on this board when I say: "Man, I want one of those, BAD".
Kilroy is all about... Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 a bump for a reno brother having possession of 0225, having owned and played the '91-one-ff, and having played the zanderstd thru a gibson rvh head/412 cab, i believe the 4-digits sounds and plays vintage (it's broken in and looks and sounds it). the zanderstd sounded as good yet a bit different, more range into the les paulian tonal mojo (term used for serial's appeal ) next, the zanderstd has a different bridge and neck sounds compared to both the 4-digit and the '91 off. les paul sounds out of the zander along with the crunchy-munching from the bridge. zanderstd's appearence is breath-taking. upon first inspection, i spent 15 minutes watching the 3-D maple waves swirl and swish as i rotated the guitar's angle in the western afternoon sunlight. the price is reasonable and similar to other highly coveted standards (the punisher, etc) one can always do the resale within this forum without much hassle. spend the dough! kilroy posts...
kurtsstuff Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Man...I'm really thinkin I should give this another go....
md2020 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Ya know, as beautiful as Standards are, for whatever reason I've never wanted one until I saw the Zandards. It's not the Cheap Trick connection -- I think it's more that the "bling factor" is kinda understated and the added retro touches are cool.I "need" this guitar like I need that non-airworthy Russian MiG that's for sale, but it sure is tempting.
