Good luck with the search. They. Are. Awesome.

I may regret this, but I may let go of my personal BCR Junior, the one on the left. The one on the right has been in the case since it arrived here, and mine has seen a LOT of use......

You want mahogany.

Why?

Because I said so.

I don't know enough about Hamers, so please forgive me for asking...the Jr. looks like a mid 90s Special with only 1 PUP and a pickguard. What makes this guitar that much more desireable than the other?

I know I'm going to get beat up for this...

There are LOTS of very significant differences. The first one is that the newer ones have a wrap tail rather than stop/tuna. They're also made from the most amazing mahogany I've probably ever seen/heard/felt in a guitar. The headstocks are thinner to accept strip tuners (not your grandfather's slippy Gibson tuners either). There were two runs of six done for BCRGreg and I got to check out each and every one as it came in and they were all fantastic guitars. I have yet to find a Hamer 90s Special that's even close, and they're really good guitars. The body contours feel/look different to me as well, but I've never A/Bd them. They are similar to the Korina Specials, which are fantastic guitars, but I prefer the mahogany ones over any korina I've played, save perhaps one really "Special" korina one.

Word.

I never "got" the whole Jr thing until I played cajunboys' BCR Jr at the Cajum Jam. I was hooked and lucky enough to get one a few months later that had been enjoyed by Tonejunkee->Sirdaniel->Jisham->Cordroad. I did replace the pickup for a Lollar. Mine is a 6.5 lb beast. They're awesome.

I swiped Poe's vintage orange Jr. after a long waiting line of sales, I think this one was sold 4 or 5 times before Kiz informed me Meshuggah was selling it. It is the lightest guitar I own and It plays smooth and extremely resonant... There's solo's I can play on this that I can't normally do with as much ease on other guitars. The pickup was replaced with a prototype custom Voodoo Pickup. I've played a couple of the Korina Jrs and didnt like them as much

I don't know....

Greg,

Are the pickguards on those two shaped differently or is it an optical illusion? They look different in the cutaway.

Bob

PS- I thought about selling my cherry BCR Jr that I got from Sir D. Yup, I thought about it for about 1 second and then came to my senses. Don't sell yours. Sell a kidney first.

They are different. Mine has a guard that I made out of 50's Gibson tort.

I have so many real Juniors that I don't NEED this guitar.......

There are certainly worse prolems to have.

That's the only reason I sold my Trans Orange Junior.

Once I got my '59 TV, I kinda didn't need it anymore.

That's understandable. My ersatz vintage guitar collection consists of a T51, Daytona, Korina Vector, Korina Standard and BCR Jr. The only thing I could see replacing them with would be the real deal.

I am man enough to say this...I love you, Greg.

Show you love, let's do up the Jones Signature....
