kizanski Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I won't be, but FWIW, I think it's totally badassed!...and Ice Cream Man rules.I agree with both of these statements. I'm most likely in as well-that's a cool one and I'm thinking I HAVE to have it, just so I can put a Kahler back on it to irritate Kiz!Do what you want, Sport. It's no hair off my coolie.
bubs_42 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Did anyone see the questions on the Auction... They went as far as removing the Maple top filling the hole and putting a new top on and put the original binding back on. Next step, spray a nice burst finnish.... Scratch that ... KILL A ZEBRA AND GLUE IT TO MY GUITAR...... I could only wander want it would go for with it just being in Black, hell or White. Edited, Proof read.....LOL
cornjulio Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Something tells me that this guitar will be expensive!!!! Let me correct myself... Veeeerrrryyy expensive... Hamer guys love zebras.
BadgerDave Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Hamer guys love zebras. My opinion, but that zebra graphic just sucks. I prefer this:

Crwth145 Posted March 21, 2008 Author Posted March 21, 2008 not to start a flame war or anything, but I don't get why anyone would get upset at the guy for having the guitar modded by what sounds like a pro luthier. Not everyone is a guitar collector, some people actually play them and enjoy personalizing/improving them to their own tastes...resale value be damned. From the pictures anyway it looks like everything was well thought out and done well...not a hack job like some things you see on ebay. Mind you this is just my opinion, but I think it's kind of cool seeing a well thought out and executed Hamer modification like this guy had done. But then again I really dig the crown inlays Greg put in his red duotone, or the boomerang inlays that one of the HFC'ers had done to his Mirage maple top, or the wraptail conversion Tom T had done to his Special, or the P-90's Austin had put in his Mirage I....heck the list could go on. At one time I'm sure 4 digit Standards were just regular old guitars, not collectible instruments. I understand the value of personal taste, but I can't help wondering why anyone would opt for replacing the binding if the current zebra scheme was indeed planned. If you've got it stripped down and are replacing the top, why not just go ahead and eliminate it like the Kahler? Too bad they didn't zebra the face of the headstock as well, it would have completed the look. Hmmm... In my opinion it would have been more bitchin' if they had just EVH black & white franken-striped it and left the Kahler on. Woulda' been a lot cheaper too, and the guitar would have been that much closer to original...
