RoyB Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 We have been working on an electronics package to give my newer and brighter Standards a real smooth vintage tone and we hit on it with a special combo of pots and a custom cap from Luxe (and the cap looks way cool too). How do these caps sound in comparison to the Gold Jensen caps I've been getting from you cause I did that setup.The Luxe does not remover as much highs, but it's got a fuller midrange and sounds more vowel. Plus using a 250k for the tone makes upper mids much less harsh. I've tried this set up in my 2003 and 2005 Standards that were both great sounding, but had a bit to much presence no matter what pickups I tried, but this set op made them sound amazing.

I did these kits for My Hamers and those of my tech, but I wanted to share our finding here, but I don't think this kit will stay in our line unless it looks like there is a call for them and so far that does not look to be the case.

Hamer of the gods Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Roy,I got the Psychebilly pickups and wiring upgrade kit installed in my Standrd this weekend. Needless to say I'm really digging it! There are sooo many different sounds available to me now just by using my volume & tone knobs!! I'll be ordering more of those Jensen caps soon, I want ALL of my guitars to sound this good!ScottNOLA

It's better to just keep the kit as an upgrade because not every Hamer needs it and many people love the sound as it is. This kit is for those people that think there guitar could be tweaked for the better or want it smoothed out a bit.
