kurtsstuff Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Custom-Shop-One-...1QQcmdZViewItemCrowned Chap w/ Cali setup w/ Canted bucker???
gatorbyte007 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I Have been watching this, I have something very similar that was built for Scotti Hill. The Body is very small. and the humbucker is very kramer like. mine does not have block inlays. very interesting guitars for sure.
Mindseyes Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 neat!BUTThe crowns just look wrong on that!!!
cmatthes Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 "Dinky" Hamer body (SS-3) slant single neck, slant HB, SET NECK, unbound rosewood w/crowns, etc. Damned cool custom piece, but I doubt they even charged Tina Turner $3,800 for that back in 1987!Hell, you could buy a '50s Strat for that back then...
atquinn Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 It's awesome is what it is! Although I agree, the inlays do look a bit strange.-Austin

veatch Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Needs boomers. I dig the set neck, and i do like the finish. Reminds me of an old Charvel i once had...

cmatthes Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Highly doubt it's fake. The back of the neck was probably factory natural satin - I've seen a few like that, most recently, the Scotti Hill Sunburst w/Floyd.The serial numbers were probably just filled in with a pen or something. Frankly, it wouldn't really be worth someone's while to go to great lengths to make a fake Hamer like that one.

RacerX Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Yup, probably a fake, with a neck that was stripped. And rosewood with crowns? probably just using up old parts that where lying around. Hell, they even made the body small to use up a scrap of wood that was unfit for a proper Hamer guitar. Crooked pickups that dont even match? Add the bad Karma from rippin off Tina... Who would ever want that thing?LOL!!!!!! Ahhh the lure of a 1-off within driving distance...I think it's cool as hell.Mark.
cmatthes Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 in china they fake shoes - so why not?but also can be filled with paint of course. It's not a fake. Looks 100% legit to me, except for what looks like a swapped out bridge pickup. (unless Mark is going to pick it up, then by all means, it's FAKE. Fake as hell!!! )
marcnorth Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Pretty cool peice. I think the crowns look alright. I'll be curious to see how much it goes for. I also think it's not a fake. The red Impact I sold last year has a natural neck, I've seen a few that have it.
serial Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Pretty cool peice. I think the crowns look alright. I'll be curious to see how much it goes for. I also think it's not a fake. The red Impact I sold last year has a natural neck, I've seen a few that have it. I've had several factory Hamers that had the natural neck. The Scotti Hill Sunburst and Kip Winger's Impact prototype are two that come to mind right away.
atquinn Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Well, damn. Good thing I wasn't going to be able to afford it anyway or I might be pissed.-Austin
