santellavision Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 '97 Hamer USA Mahogany Standard. Vintage neck profile. Bought on the board here from Travis. The solid mahogany resonates nicely unplugged – always a great sign of good guitar. Plays easily with nice low action, no buzzes, no fret wear and intonates perfectly. I upgraded the pickups to the infamous GregWind pickups with a coil-tap on neck p/u. I also changed the pickguard and knobs. The pickguard is a cool Torty style guard. (No mods or new holes drilled) I will include the original white guard and black knobs too. Very conservatively 9/10 condition. Some light Hameritis around the neck joint – minor and nothing to be worried about. Really clean overall. Kept in my non-smoking home since I got it. Includes Hamer hard-shell case. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT. ----------------- 2008 Rickenbacker 660. Natural Maple with Amazing Flame top and back!! Mint Condition. 100% original. Original owner. Barely played only in non-smoking home. Featherweight at 6lbs 8oz!!! Plays easily with low action, no buzzes. No fret wear at all. Comes with original Vintage reissue “Toaster” pickups. Rosewood fretboard, Vintage inlays, Checkered double bound binding. Neck is medium thickness. 1-3/4” nut size Not huge, but, not wimpy at all. Includes it’s original Rick hard-shell case and all case candy. When you open the case, you'll think it was brand-new. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT. Click here for more info: Rickenbacker 660 Info page. These are killer guitars and yes, they can rock when cranked. And will do the jangle thang they are famous for! Lots of tonal choices with 2 Vol/Tone as well as a mix control.
Travis Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Guys, that Standard is a killer guitar. If I had the cash right now I would buy it back in a heartbeat. You will NOT be sorry you bought it.
tomteriffic Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Both of those are drop-dead gorgeous!Grab the Ric or wait 18 months or more to get one from the factory and pay a whole bunch more. The guard on the MahStand looks like the product of an illicit liason between an abalone (the figure/pattern) and a tortoise (the color).
JGale Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Does it come with a concealed weapons permit with those Gregwinds?
santellavision Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 Do you guys like the Guard or not? I thought it looked nice against the Mahogany.I got it through Chandler
santellavision Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 It looks like the Standard is going to Bloozguy.

Bloozguy Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 It looks like the Standard is going to Bloozguy. Congratulations Bloozguy! I almost pulled the trigger on that one when Travis was selling it and Ernie picked it up...so I couldn't miss it a second time
veatch Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Agreed. The pickguard looks *very* good against the mahogany.
santellavision Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 The Ricky is Sold pending payment.
crunchee Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 It looks like the Standard is going to Bloozguy. Congratulations Bloozguy! I almost pulled the trigger on that one when Travis was selling it and Ernie picked it up...so I couldn't miss it a second time Congrats, Bloozguy! You'll like it, I've had one with the rounded heel and the pickguard for several years now--and won't part with mine. Just wondering, are you keeping the pickup/pickguard upgrade or going back to stock?
santellavision Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 He didn't take the GregWind p/u upgrade. So, I have those available if anyone's interested. If not, I will I keep them and put them in another guitar. They really sound good!
Bloozguy Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 The Standard has landed...and back to nearly original condition. Haven't gotten it home yet to snap some pix, but here's one borrowed from Travis: Many thanks to Ernie for taking such good care of it these last few months, selling it reasonably, and packing it flawlessly!
