velorush Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 No affiliation, but I hope they get every penny!1980 Special on eBay
hamerhead Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 That's more like 'signs of a new crack pipe'.
dboy66 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I know these guys and they are quite reputable. I believe they were friends with Jol back in the day here in Chi-Town. At least I know that Pete Flynn used to hang out in Jol's little shop and that they know each other personally. Any way, their affiliation with Hamer goes back to the beginning, and the Flynn's know their way around a guitar. They also sell G&L, so more kudos from my camp. Anyway, I know that times are super tough for the little guys, so I have no malice towards them for trying to sell that badboy for what its worth. While we're on that subject, check out some of the prices at the other major vintage dealers here in the windy city (Chicago Music exchange, Rock and Roll Vintage, Maken Music, ect.) and I dont think that you'll see any price drops on anything. The commercial market for gear has not dropped here. It is flat. Just like our realestate. Mind you, the private market is another story.
velorush Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 No affiliation, but I hope they get every penny!Absolutely no criticism or sarcasm intended. I sincerely hope they get every penny.
unfun75 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 The fret job probably justifies the price. They look immaculate.
Dutchman Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I've purchased several high end amps and guitars from Pete in the past, He must feel it's worth it.......to the right buyer Not for me though.....
intelligentpony Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I wonder what best offer dollar amount will take it?
crunchee Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I've been to the Flynn's shop before. Not bad, but not cheap, and not a place that I'd go into unless I happened to be in the neighborhood, it's a bit too upscale for me. I wonder if they still have that double RN signed Standard Custom under glass? By now, it might be triple RN signed for all I know.
Jorge Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 There is no "economic recovery" in sight, and there will not be for a long time. You will see lots of guitars offered at "normal" prices. They will not sell. If people do not see an incredible bargain, that allows them to flip it immediately without waiting, or loosing money...they will not buy.Same for houses, bonds and stocks. A rising tide lifts all boats. The opposite is also true.
cmatthes Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I wonder if they still have that double RN signed Standard Custom under glass? By now, it might be triple RN signed for all I know.I believe an HFC'er bought that one a few years back. I had one from the same year (w/Crowns) that Rick had signed and sold it for less than 1/2 what they were asking. I think they sold it for way less than the initial advertised price though.
