hamerboy_ Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 There's been some talk over the years here about these. Mine's not getting played. So it's time to move it on. Here's a couple of pics: Just to throw a number at it, lets start at $999.00. Haggle with me if you must. Who knows? You might get lucky. -Bobby
specialk Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Love it! Can't afford it! Good luck with the sale, it looks like a fair price for a cool guitar!
BubbaVO Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Tobacco burst over mahogany (?) with creme binding - that is soooo coool!! Are those pups original? I like those covers. What did they finish these with?
hamerboy_ Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Pups are Ibanez Super 80's with the old "flying fingers" logo etched on the covers. Guitar is completely stock. This is from the '78 Ibanez catalog: -Bobby
BubbaVO Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 What does that 40 year old mahogany sound like when strummed unplugged?
serial Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 What does that 40 year old mahogany sound like when strummed unplugged?Don't know about 40 year old mahogany, but the 30 and 31 year old mahogany on my two Iceman guitars sounds pretty damned good. These are killer guitars.

On second thought, the guitar may only be 30 years old, but the wood (the mahogany) will come from a tree that is probably much older than that. I bet it sounds awesome.
Turdus Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 What's going on with the serial number? Is that paint to make it show up?
hamerboy_ Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 Is yours a feather weight like mine?Hey, Dave. Yeah, it's pretty light. Especially for a big guitar. The deal with the serial number goes like this. Someone attempted to remove it; almost as if they took a drill and ran the bit against the number sideways. But they left enough so that the number was easily recovered. I expressed concern about this, but was assured that it was not an issue. I bought this guitar from Cowtown Guitars when they were still in Columbus, Oh. (now in Las Vegas).-Bobby

Craig S Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I bought this guitar from Cowtown Guitars when they were still in Columbus, Oh. (now in Las Vegas).that's funny, I bought my 78' IC500(?) from him when he was here... I have to check your pics out when I can get home and see em'.. Cool guitars, I've had a couple originals.
Stike Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 What did they finish these with? Polyester. I've always wanted one, and I've got some bad Iceman gas right now (probablly not as much as Serial ) but I can't drop that kind of money on something with a perfectly good finish that'd respray.
BubbaVO Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 That poly finish definitely feels different than the finish on the Hamers. Feels heavier - thicker. Almost plastic. Might have to do some sanding on the ST50. I like the idea of hardened oil like they use on gun stocks.
serial Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Polyester. I've always wanted one, and I've got some bad Iceman gas right now (probablly not as much as Serial ). Aaah, you can send me teaser pics for now...

Aw, hell - I sure could! There's early an 2000's project IC 400 on the bay right now I'm watching. I looked in completed listings and if I play my cards right I might be able to pick one up for close to treefity. Has anyone ever seen Dweezil's triple P90 gold sparkle Iceman? Swoon.
elduave Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Nash Kato (Urge Overkill) has a Goldtop Iceman with Creme P90's. Mmmhmm.
BubbaVO Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Don't forget about the Steve Miller Iceman!
