Camstone Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Well, with the potential for serious sellers remorse, I offer the 2001 Standard Custom that I bought almost exactly one year ago from David E. Legend has it that he got it from HFC-er David B. I bought the guitar for the top. Plain and simple, it is breath taking. One of the best that I have seen. The guitar is in excellent condidtion with the exception of two dings. One in the top and one on the edge (see pics). These were there when I bought it. So the condition is "excellent, with two dings". 9+ I paid David E $1550.00 a year ago. I'm asking $1450.00 shipped and insured. Cashiers check or money order. I've got the same box it was sent it to me in. This is the ding on the top, it's more of a little dent really. About the diameter of a pencil eraser. Maybe it was from the tip of a drumstick??? Not through the finish, on the bottom horn about where you would rest your forearm. You can see it in the first pic above. Here's the other ding. This is really small on the edge where you rest your right arm. Thanks to DavidE for use of some of his pics from when he was selling this beauty.
bubs_42 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I'm heartbroken, just can't justify it at the moment.
Feynman Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I have a tingling feeling predicting that this won't last the day.
BubbaVO Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 $hit. I've never owned a standard. Always wanted one. $hit.
Russ Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I am NOT a man of wealth. I have succumbed however 6 times in the last 12 months and purchased guitars. A "Standard" is the ONLY guitar left on my "to do" list. I officially left the band 3 weeks ago, and can't for the life of me come up with any sane justification to purchase this, and yet, I've clicked on the PM button at least 20 times...aaargh!
hamerican gigolo Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Fantastic looking guitar. Both yourself & DavidE have discriminating taste. Good luck with the sale.
DavidE Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I seriously considered buying this back. That's a killer price and it does have one of the best tops ever and the guitar is just a great player. But I sold it because I hadn't played it in over a year and I don't think I'd play it even if I had it so I decided to make the mature, old man, decision. Whoever buys this guitar will not be just happy, you will be thrilled.
crunchee Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 VERY VERY nice! Ooooh, what to do, what to do...
bubs_42 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 VERY VERY nice! Ooooh, what to do, what to do... Sell me that Korina one and take this one.
Armitage Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Can someone please explain the meaning of "justification" and what it has to do with guitars???
bubs_42 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Can someone please explain the meaning of "justification" and what it has to do with guitars??? I have two Standards already and they are not going anywhere. So I don't need a third and thats what I'm going to keep telling myself.
Camstone Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 No trades thanks. I have found that the only electrics I play anymore are my Duotone and my Nash strat. Everything else just sits. I may even decide to sell the infamous Quilted Junior. These guitars shouldn't just be sitting in their cases.
