MCChris Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 The drummer dug this one, as evidenced by his outburst after we finished:http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9407067

JGale Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 81 fukkin' RUB songs. Yeeeeeeahhh Haaaaaaaa! MFLB away!
MCChris Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 File under "only if I have absolutely nothing else to do" but I'll be on the radio tonight at 9 p.m. CT talking about the Rub on a local music show. Going over there right after our set at an art exhibit in the area.Listen here:http://www.wjob1230.com
MCChris Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 If anyone would like some background music for reconciling comapny bank accounts, boinking or whatever, you can stream all of the jams from our set last Thursday at this link:http://www.archive.org/details/TheRubLiveA...h&reCache=1
BruceM Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 As always, thanks for sharing. I've had this playing for 30 mins. or so. Very groovy background music.
MCChris Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 As always, thanks for listening! I can't believe that second jam is 36 minutes long lol. Didn't seem like it while it was happening.
velorush Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 If anyone would like some background music for reconciling comapny bank accounts...I'm really sorry, I certainly didn't mean that as criticism of any sort. I typically try to put on something musically interesting while doing that kind of work as it really breaks the monotony. Typically it's along the lines of Rush, Chimp Spanner [tipped off to me here on the HFC], Porcupine Tree, Future of Forestry, Black Dub, etc. Today it was some latter Zep clips while working up Friday's payroll. I'm still learning it's typically best for me to keep my enthusiasm to myself.

I do the same thing to break up the monotony of all the nudity I see on a daily basis. My own music as a soundtrack to adult videos is the bomb lol.
MCChris Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Welp, just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! We resurrected the Rub at a new venue in Chicago last Sunday, and remarkably, the owner and his wife fucking loved everything about it. That hasn't happened since the cafe closed, and I was the owner! Sitting in with us on drums definitely stoked his enthusiasm. So, it's looking like this will be a regular thing. Again. Oy.Therefore, I'm pleased to repeat: if anyone would like some background music for reconciling company bank accounts, boinking or whatever, you can stream all of the jams from our set at this link:https://archive.org/details/TheRubLiveAtTheThroneRoomChicagoIl.On7132014I'm playing bass on jams 1 & 3 and guitar on jams 2 & 4. Guitar-wise it was an all-Hamer night for me, with the Mirage II and SuperPro. Enjoy!

Guitar-wise it was an all-Hamer night for me, with the Mirage II and SuperPro. Enjoy! For newer HFCers, that is a reference to a glowing review I provided years ago after listening to a huge collection of The Rub on some internet file storage service (Soundcloud, maybe?). And, yes, I was simultaneously reconciling our Company's bank accounts. It's great music that everyone should hear and rewards the careful and detailed listener as well as, admittedly, the distracted listener using it for background music during more detailed but mundane tasks. Can't speak to its boinkworthiness - I don't think they have any songs short enough for me to really use for that purpose...
MCChris Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Can't speak to its boinkworthiness - I don't think they have any songs short enough for me to really use for that purpose... HAHAHAHA brilliant! I was especially pleased with my bass playing on this most recent session. Our primary bassist had to bail at the last minute so I was pressed into more bass duty than I usually prefer. The venue owner's wife let us use her MarkBass Jeff Berlin combo. That little thing sounded massive!
murkat Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 why can't I find anyone who likes to play like that? oh... wrong town....
BTMN Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 WyldBil at The Rub. Who was playing it and is there more and/or stills of others playing it? Cool lil riffages going on.
