USA - CHAPARRAL CUSTOM

Recommended Posts

Contemplating selling my Chap Custom. The last of my guitars. I've sold a JEM 777VSK, 3 USA Jacksons, San Dimas, Gibson LPs ect. This is the ONE guitar I kept above all those greats.

Guitar is in excellent condition and I am looking for top dollar - Think $2,000 range. I will probably list it on Ebay soon, but thought I would give you guys a chance at it first. I just don't play anymore

Oh, and I'll get better pics up by the weekend B)

Good luck with it~

Hey axe2grind,

I hope you don't think that we're trying to low-ball you or something. The value that you placed for that guitar is way off. It may be worth that kind of money to you but it is highly unlikely that you'll get it.

All the best.

OK guys - as the pinned FS board guidelines state:

Don't dump on other people's threads. Keep negative comments about price, the manufacturer, the seller, or whatever else to yourself.

I think everyone is trying to be helpful, but just let it be. He has a price in mind and may offer it for sale at any price he chooses. The free-market will take care of the rest.

Nice guitar!

Hey guys, no offense taken. I realize I'm asking more than "book value". The thing is, in my eyes anyway, the guitar is on the rare side and therefore, to me at least, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay to have it in their collection. I sold a USA Chap Elite (Bolt-On) awhile back on the Bay for $1200 and saw a Custom sell awhile back for $1700 that was not in as good a condition as mine. Rarity trumps EVERYTHING!

Also, I'm not desperate for money and I wouldn't let it go for "book value". If I can't sell for the money I want I'm more than happy to keep it. Know what I mean?

Cool! Best of luck to you in your sale, but I hope you wind up keeping it. Looks to be like one you'd be kicking yourself later for letting go.

Caveat: Looks like a set-neck to me too, not a neck-through.....

My mistake on the "Neck-thru". I call everything that's not a Bolt-On a Neck-Thru. My appologies and thanks for the post!

Yep - Hamer's only Neck Thru was a limited production Impact Bass.

I sold my chap custom to a fellow hfc'er a couple years ago . just over a grand and it was a flame top..market was high then.

theyre nice guitars but I prefer the mini toggles over the later slide switch..

cool piece all the same...

Been busy during the holidays, but plan on making this listing probably sometime this evening. Thought I'd give you guys one more chance - Last Chap Set-Neck sold just recently on Ebay for over $1,900...

This guitar will go up in value. I have no doubt.

Looks like the seller was open for overseas bidders. With the weak dollar, 1900 could be a good deal for somone outside the US. If you were hanging out here the last two years you would have seen this happen with Sunbursts and now the market has crashed. My suggestion to you is to offer it up on ebay and be open to Euro bidders. Good Luck.

The problem with shipping outside the USA is that Ebay requires you to accept Paypal. Paypal requires sellers to fully insure the item and use signature confirmation. Otherwise you are open to a chargeback.

USPS International Priority is the only reasonable way to ship. They limit insurance to $600-$800 with most countries. FedEx also will not fully insure most older instruments.

I sold many guitars to European bidders but that was when I could specify payment by bank wire only. I would never use Paypal with an international transaction.

Maybe it works well for others. Not me.
