specialk Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Wow! Don't think I've seen this one before. Best of luck on the sale.
crunchee Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 That's really cool, very New Wave looking, somebody's gonna be a happy new owner--I wish I still looked that good after 25+ years!
velorush Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I think that's my favorite graphic I've seen so far! That's sexy the way Dale Bozzio was sexy. The first time I saw Lady Gaga (I think it was when I was dragged in to the living room to see her on American Idol (not a fan of AI)). I took one look and said, "Dale Bozzio wannabe." Showed my Lady Gaga fan-daughter some DB footage on YouTube afterward. The, shall we say, 'intentional resemblance' was evident, even to her.
eightyfour Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 If ever there was a greater need for Stike, I know not of it.
Brooks Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 the 1st hamer i ever saw up close was an older guy at high school who had a graphic special. so the graphics always take me back.
cmatthes Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 The yellow ink they used to stamp the serial numbers on black guitars from that period often just fades away...like invisible ink. It's there, but the blacklight trick doesn't always work. Pretty safe bet that it'll be an '81 though, in any case.
serial Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Absolutely the case. My '81 Special also had no trace of a serial number left, but I got it from the original owner and she assured me that other than guitar polish, nothing had been done to the finish. At least half of the graphic (black back) Specials I've seen and a few midnight pearl guitars that were stamped in that yellow ink had little trace of a serial number or none at all. I wouldn't say it has any effect onvalue whatsoever for these. That's a cool graphic-some are really neat but a couple look like the artist was getting bored.
