Jem Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Don't want to cause a stir but it's now the second week of March and also wasn't this also threatend on the Hamer Museum and never came through ?Jemmie
Disturber Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 http://www.hamerfanclub.com/serialnumber/coming.php "Owner information will not be available to the public but instrument status will be. This means if you report that an entry is stolen it will appear on the list with STOLEN by it. Hopefully we can reunite more Hamer players with their lost instruments."Me thinks of big opportunity for owner of database.Imagine how powafull mr Serial will be with allthis information. He will know of every Hamerin da whole wide world. He will be the Hamercontrollah', master of all Hamer's. One nightwhen you will be deep asleep he will comewith his crowbar and when you wake up... ...no more Hamer!
Gabe Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Serial. Is is better to get you my serial info before converstion or wiat till this is available for upload? That's what I would like to know also. Another thing is that owner information will not be available to the public. But IMHO it would be nice if this information is available to HFC-members/supporters. Is that possible/feasible? Gabe
Mobster Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Don't want to cause a stir but it's now the second week of March and also wasn't this also threatend on the Hamer Museum and never came through ?Jemmie Thanks Jem my friend, but you have no idea the work that went in to me putting the entire serial list in SQL format (which was done MONTHS ago), then have it fall through. It's now been redone from scratch as far as I know. I have nothing to do with it.It wasn't "threatened", it's more than a 1 person job.Kudos to Steve and company for getting it up and running.
BCR Greg Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Hey, Jem! Stand down ya friggin' LIMEY!!!!! Serial's on it, Mister! Now GET BACK TO WORK!!!!
Jem Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 I do, that's half of what i've ended up doing for a living. If you go to www.alcar-wheelwright.co.uk and go to the online configurator you can just imagine how much work it takes to cross that many wheels with that many cars....it's a f'kin nightmare ! For me the frustration is someone actually posted a snippet from old and whenever it's been mentioned i've been chomping at the bit to see what's either side of 0 1813 HeheheheheheJem

Jem Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Wouldn't it be 0 1812 and 0 1813? I was hoping that it would be 0 1812 and 0 1814.......excuse me it's getting a bit Harmony Central isn't it Jemmie
serial Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Dunno if it is on there or not Jem, but #0 1812 and #0 1814 are both cherry trans Specials (as is #0 1813).As Mobster, Ted and anyone else who has either worked with this in the past or has helped with the soon-to-be-released version (which DOES exist, I've seen it), this is a bit of a monumental task. Yours truly started this database in 1997 and never really "modernized" it, so it is a text document rather than whatever fancy name you computer guys call what it should be converted to. I have several thousand instruments logged in and have several thousand more to add as I can. I usually add between 30-40 a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, but that's a good estimate. Lotsa time into this.As for owner info, unless it is out there in publication, I preferred not to include that and from day one had requests NOT to include this from people for many reasons, some more obvious than others. Thanks to Ted and everyone involved in the current form in getting this off of the ground!

Yeah, even when I'm trying to be a smartass I screw it up. The sad thing is, I was trying to be funny, actually wrote down his serial number and used it. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. Speaking of DuMB, wonder if I can get hired to drive the bus and dump crap on people for those guys. Chicago - my kinda town.
