bobsessed Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 SCHWEET!!! was there a bag of sand sitting on the strings, or is the action really set that low? -Bob-

KeyOfZ Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Hey bobsessed, It came set WAY low, I'll probably raise it tonight when I get home. My SuperPro came from the factory set really low too. Almost like they are showing off on how low they can get the action and still sound awesome. I'm at work right now so I only got to noodle on it for around 4 minutes LOL but I will definately raise the action. Any tips on raising the action on a Sustaine Block bridge (this is my first guitar with this type of bridge)
sw686blue Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The boys at Hamer outdo themselves each time.Congrats on a stellar guitar!
cmatthes Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 WOW! That thing looks simply amazing. Really nice job all around on that one - betcha can't wait to get 'er home and crank it up. Fine execution, KofZ!Dave Mc is a class act and a super nice guy. He's also had his hands on more classic Hamers than most of us will ever see over the years.
Guest pirateflynn Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I love that guitar! Beautiful fingerboard!
belgian Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 WOW, this is the nicest Artist I ever saw !What's the deal on the pickups ?
KeyOfZ Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Thanks everyone Belgian, the pickups are as follows: Seymour Duncan Custom in the Bridge Seymour Duncan 59' in the Neck I guess they couldn't fit that on the certificate with all the other goodies One really cool thing is they included the Inlayed Hamer logo on the headstock for free! I hadn't ordered it that way but it must be included with one of the options I ordered.....I'm glad they did it either way! This thing sounds amazing....beautiful tone and the pickup combo works great. Now if I just knew the best way to adjust the action....Dave says he'll take care of it if I swing by this week.
jwhitcomb3 Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Wow, what an insane finish! How can I have GAS when I've decided to unload half my guitars?-Jonathan
MCChris Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The "sustaine" block bridge really sets that one apart. Very nice!
silentman Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The "sustaine" block bridge really sets that one apart. Very nice! HAHA! I got DUNLAP 6100 frets on my Standard certificate.Bitchin guitar. Sustain Blocks should be standard issue bridges. You set string height like you would on a strat.
mattb Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Jesus! That is f&^ing beautiful.Well done!Congrats.-MattB
sw686blue Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Sustain Blocks should be standard issue bridges. Totally agree. So much less fuss than TOM bridges and they look so c ler too!
KeyOfZ Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 So I stayed up until 2:15am playing this little beauty I got it all adjusted and it feels incredible. This is my first guitar that has the shorter 24 3/4" scale length and I really like how the strings respond to bending and also how the strings seem to vibrate very deeply. The SustaineBlock is AWESOME, the whole guitar seems to react to the string vibrations (I can feel it vibrate when holding it) It reminds me of a LesPaul in the fact that on the Bridge pickup it gets a very chunky tone. Great for rythms and chords with a lot of saturation. The Neck pickup is very bluesy and has a very musical tone. Much brighter than my SuperPro in the neck. The middle position is the one that really surprised me, it is almost Strat like! It has a hint of twang to it. Very versatile. Hamer hit it out of the park on this one, they went above and beyond in both service and execution. The Hamer inlay that they gave me for free is a cool surprise. I tried to get a good shot of the insanely deep grain but without sunlight (didn't get home until the sun was down) I couldn't quite get it. Here is one I took that got close. Also in person the finish is VERY subtle. The middle section almost looks Vanilla White in person and then fades to an Amber.
MCChris Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Does anyone else have an F-hole guitar with a SustaineBlock? Seems to me that combination would make for a guitar that resonates like a mofo.

The sustain block is the key to all these points you made. The "quack" you hear is all sustain block, baby. That and the hollow body will get the top moving like crazy. I'm still surprised at all the different tones I can get out of my Watson. The SB is the X-factor there too. Jol is crazy for saying the sustain block wasn't great for all hamer models (archtops).
hudpucker Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 semi-hollow sustain block Artist?Yowzah, that looks friggin' schweet.
