Turdus Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Could it be Grand Funk?I heard American Band tonight, and realized that the only other song I know by these guys is I'm Your Captain. Yet, they were, and probably still are a well known band,
AmericanShredder Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Grand Funk had a couple more hits including " Some Kind Of Wonderful " and their remake of " The Locomotion "
Steve Haynie Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I might have to agree with the nomination of the Grateful Dead. They were extremely popular, but hardly had any radio hits. A Touch of Grey is the only song of theirs I can recall hearing on the radio.

Yet, they were, and probably still are a well known band, No, they had a lot of hits and were a very popular band in their day. But they didn't have a lot of staying power. I would say Enuff Z'nuff falls into that category. Laurie Anderson. Saxon .
Kurt L Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 A Touch of Grey is the only song of theirs I can recall hearing on the radio. It's not the Dead's fault that radio sucks.
Kurt L Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 It's not the radio's fault the Dead sucks Can't we all just get along - and agree that EVERYTHING sucks? :-)
Turdus Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 Uriah Heep is a good call. Not only can I not name any of their songs, I can't name any band members, LOL.
Brooks Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 to name a few,the who had baba o'reiley (teenage wasteland), going mobile, squeeze box, emenence front, you better you bet, etc;rush had spirit of radio, new world man, subdivisions, etc;uriah heep had easy living, & stealing (when i shoulda been buying).oh, & the most spinal tap-ish band member's name goes to UH's MICK BOX, ha.so far, iron maiden seems to be the biggest band w/ ZERO hits on mainstream radio.
Turdus Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 In the DC area, Rush had a minor hit with "Closer To The Heart". That is the first tune I remember hearing them on the radio. A couple years later "Fly By Night" also got a lot of airplay. Strange, seeing how it had been released a few years before.

Q95 in Indy used to play the crap out of Limelight and Tom Sawyer.
