gerry Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 could we get more posts on this virtuos thread. maybe new photos from virtuoso owners. who owns the granite virtuoso at the moment ?
DarrenD Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 The granite virt was owned by Maverick Music and then he sold it around 5 months ago. I think he let it go for 3.1k. I have a feeling a lot of people who own the other virts not seen are not forum goers or internet junkies like us.

DarrenD Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 mc2 posted a picture of it on page 2 of this thread.

Jason01 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I don't think that pink Dallas Perkins virt has been brought up in this thread yet
RobB Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Are the upper frets on Virtuosos actually usable past the 24th fret? Can players without spidery, thin fingers like Mr. Burns actually get up there and really play notes that are in tune and with a pleasing sound? I've played the old Washburn 36-fretters (w/Stephens Extended Cutaway, brilliant invention) and found it was quite difficult to navigate the higher frets cleanly. Additionaly, the tone got kind of "tinky" and "banjo-esque". Uli Roth's Sky Guitar (also scalloped) has frets spaced in whole tones past the 27th fret to combat the cramped-fret issue. There's also a neck pickup installed underneath the fingerboard, which I think is a really hip idea. Not $7500USD hip, but a way to get warmer tones out of the guitar. Any Virt owners care to give their take on the on how their guitars peform "up there?"
gerry Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I'll have to dig through the photo archives, but theres at least one more. The one I'm thinking about isn't yellowed like Jon's and doesn't have the large, Jupiter-looking planet in the same position behind the trem.chris did you already check your photos

DarrenD Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 Yes, I do remember a pink Virt that was customized for some artist. I used to have a pic of it but can't find it now.The Virt is easier to access the higher notes due to its 26.5 scale length. I once had a Washburn EC36 - great guitar, but frets 30-36 are virtually impossible to pluck due to the 25.5 scale length..... unless you take a fret out and make it a whole note (like I did).

gerry Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 i follow virts already for about 6 years. i haven´t seen more than a hand full for sale in 6 years. the virts i know are pictured on following photos. i communicated with jim o´connor recently and he told me that the spacedesign how he calls the design which we name celestial was his favourite design at that time and the celestial finishes were those where he could use his creativity without any limitations. jim is a very kind person and a great artist. jim o´connor virtuosos 1 celestial yellow/gold, 1 celestial, 1 granite, 3 x snakeskins korinas 2 red sustainblock (0007 gary moore), 1 black sustainblock 1 korina natural prototype 1 redsparkle floyd rose, 1 quilt floyd rose, 1 ice pearl floyd rose 4 white floyd rose (one of them from kk downing) 1 metallic red floyd rose 1 black metallic with a humbucker and floyd rose and finally paul hamers korina sustainblock so i have information and/or photos of 6 jim o´connor virtuosos, 5 floyd rose, 1 kahler 9 virtuosos with uni color finsih all floyd rose 1 korina prototype with modified pickup (humbucker) 10 korina sustainblock virtuosos 1 pink virtuoso that´s a total of 27 virtuosos. actually i have seen only 5 of the 10 korinas, but as they are numbered i count them as existing. anyone who has more REAL information pls add it here. so i have information and/or photos of 6 jim o´connor virtuosos, (5 floyd rose, 1 kahler) 9 virtuosos with uni color finsih all floyd rose 1 korina prototype with modified pickup (humbucker) 10 korina sustainblock virtuosos 1 pink virtuoso that´s a total of 27 virtuosos. actually i have seen only 5 of the 10 korinas, but as they are numbered i count them as existing. anyone who has more REAL information pls add it here.
DarrenD Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 Good reference. The pink virtuoso is owned by Dallas Perkins. You can find it on his website gallery: Pink Virtuoso
cmatthes Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 The Clownpuke Virt with a Kahler is actually a lefty - your pic is reversed. It also has a super wide fingerboard - I believe that it was ordered with a classical-spec nut width.I'm also pretty sure that Jon's Celestial Virt is a regular graphic that has just heavily yellowed. It wouldn't make any sense for the stars and other white points of light in that graphic to be yellow.

specialk Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 They are all cool, but I love the natural Korina! Must sound heavenly.
tobereeno Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 as the years go by, I wonder how many more of these are going to pop up?? Mine ISN'T the catalog one - that one was snapped up earlier this year; still didn't get the story of where that one turned up.I like mine - the long scale really does make things interesting as do the scallops. It's a lot easier to play than one would think. I don't really use the higher frets, but it's really something special to have a Virt in your rack. I've never babied mine - it's rarely in the case, and has made it to every single gig I've played since I got it.
DBraz Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Resurrecting an old thread... I wonder how many of these are still owned by the same owners as a few years ago? These once demanded big money but these days they aren't getting that. Really surprised that the one on Ebay has been re-listed so many times. Its almost tempting to try and track one down but, like many have pointed out, they don't pop up every day regardless of perceived value.
veatch Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Nice! Way to make an entrance. Welcome to the board.
tobereeno Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I don't see a time when I'd let go of mine. It's far more valuable as a player than as a collectible. I was actually musing recently that I'd love to have a duplicate of my Californian doubleneck done in a 26.25" scale.
DBraz Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Love these things. Playing mine today cranked nice and loud it sounds so good and responds so well. Very rewarding guitars to play low or high up the register.
Bobby Marshall Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Zorrow, I guess I misunderstood your comment based on the next comment. I guess you found the excitement of this particular model!
