sw686blue Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Well, she's finally here...a 1996 Studio in gorgeous tobacco burst. She needs a new set of strings, some cleaning and polishing and she'll be like new. I am planning on changing the Wilkinson wraparound tailpiece to a TonePros and also switching the Schaller chrome knobs to some cool ebony ones. I also need to replace the pickup toggle switch since it was broken in transit. I have no friggin' idea how it broke. So, do you guys know what kind of toggle switch I need? I'm assuming Switchcraft. Can you recommend where I can order one? Here are a couple of shots...
silentman Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Nice. I need my 96 wraparound studio back.
Jorge Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 That is by far my favorite color ever.Like the old Ford "Model T", all guitars should be just that one color, LOL!Congratulations!
bruce919 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Nice guitar, That is a Finish would like to see come back.To me that is Tobacco Sunburst.
pesocaster Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I'm not a huge fan of sunbursts.... but that one is stunning.... nice find!
iownit4 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I like that guitar I was going to grab that one but I just got to many guitars and basses ...but I think I could of made room 4 that one !! u scored with that 1 ..
serial Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I've always liked that sunburst (agreed that THAT is "tobacco sunburst") the best. I had a gorgeous 2tone sunburst like that on a '97 Phantom that I sold (but that happily resides with another HFCer who digs that color!) and have regretted many times since. On a positive, that HFCer returned the favor by selling me a two-tone (tobacco!) burst Sunburst flat top w/Floyd.That one looks fabulous.
sw686blue Posted September 16, 2005 Author Posted September 16, 2005 Yeah, it's definitely a tobacco burst. Black edge with amber interior. Absolutely no red in there. It looks even better in person. The flame maple cap is beautiful.
Caddie Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Son of a buck I was not slooooow on the trigger on that one, just stoopid on the trigger on that one. If for some reason you do not bond with it, your wife feels it clashs with the new endtables she just bought, etc.......please email me b4 you post. Thanks in advanceNoonan

So far, all indications say that I'm bonding with it very, very well. The weight on this guitar is definitely no more than 8 lbs. I really like the belly cut. The neck is perfect...not to skinny and not to fat.Btw, this was a gift from my wife for our 5 year wedding anniversary. I think that it'll be in the family for a long time to come.Nick
Nuclear Wessel Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 That finish is awesome. Not as yellow in the middle as some tobacco sunburst guitars. More of an antique brown. Really nice.

Don't ever let that wife or that guitar out of your grasp. Ever !!!Happy AnniversaryNoonan
hardheartedbill Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 man that thing looks good! all these wraparound bridges are givin me GAS bigtime, I've never owned one, very few things in guitartown I've never owned, but a wraparound is one, med neck huh?
sw686blue Posted September 16, 2005 Author Posted September 16, 2005 neck huh? A really nice medium too. Slightly on the chunky side. Just slightly!
fretknot Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Beautiful guitar! One of my favorite finishes as well, I love that caramel colored center.Nice score there! Very cool of your wife to do that. My wife has done the same for me, and it sure makes you realize that we are lucky men.
sw686blue Posted September 16, 2005 Author Posted September 16, 2005 Very cool of your wife to do that. My wife has done the same for me, and it sure makes you realize that we are lucky men. She is amazing. I recently sold my Special FM in order to buy a Daytona. When I told her, she said "keep the Special and just buy the Daytona". If I had the cash, that would have been the case. I am truly lucky. She's always cool about my hobbies.
JamminJoe Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 You guys are not making me feel good about selling this Even my wife and daughters whom I didn't think paid much attention to my guitars, said, "no, don't sell the pretty one". Oh well, gotta move on. I had serious GAS and had to "upgrade" to a guitar with a bound neck. I wish I had the money to keep them all.
bobbymack Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Ah yes, reminds me of my Tobacco burst Mirage II, a beautiful guitar which is currently residing with one of our own in New York State...Congrats, that one looks sweet, and I love the mid/late 90s neck profiles.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Wow great looking guitar! I'm a fan of that finish as you can see on my 62 Strat. I wish I could learn to take nice pictures. Congrats!!
