Cool looking bass on Ebay. Put this next to Phoenix's doubleneck cali and you would think GreenPeace would attack the Hamer factory for cutting down that many maple trees......

Chap Max doubleneck

I saw Mark Egan in concert a couple of of times in the late 80's doing some freaky stuff with a Pedula 4/8 doubleneck bass. Playing a riff into a looping device on one neck, playing a solo over that on the other (he had a doubleneck with a fretless 4 string neck - even more fun!), playing chords on one neck into a pitch shifter so it sounded like strings, sending that to a looping device, then soloing over it. Very cool stuff.

That's a really nice bass.

Hmmm. A stack o' hunnerts?

Mebbe I should cut my '81 doubleneck loose!

Yep, carry that in your left hand and an SVT in your right hand for the first trip and roll in the 8 X 10" for the second trip and you're ready to rock.

holy crap!!! That would solve the question of which bass to play for songs where I want to use the 12ver but have a solo in it. Best of both worlds!! Hand me the ibuprofen and get a midget to hold it up for me!!! ;)

That's an 8-string Blades Bass neck (non-V headstock) and a Chaparral Max 4 on that doubleneck...boomers/ebony and solid quilt. Very kewl!!

Is it me or does the back on that bass look better than the front, figurewise?

Yeah, I thought that too....maybe it's the "go figure" figure?

Possibly the owner does a lot of that Jimi Hendrix biting of the strings and playing behind his head, where you actually see the back of the bass more than the front? I'd LOVE to see him do that on a big, heavy double-neck bass ;)

That small Blades non-V headstock goes well with the Chap 4 headstock, no?

I wonder if the necks are offset like Phoenix's doubleneck. On that one, the upper neck is tilted back about an inch or so by the time it reaches the nut. They did that so your forearm wouldn't rub against the back of the lower neck when you play the upper. Cool idea.

probably, I've never seen a Hamer doubleneck that didn't have the offset necks, and I've seen as many as I could have managed ;)
