1982 Black Vector @ Make'n Music - Chicago

I happened to stop by Make'n yesterday to take a look around and they had a beautiful black Vector

SN #0664 on the wall. They are asking $2795.00 for it. Seemed kind of expensive.

It was in great condition.

If anyone wants me to shoot photos, let me know.

That guitar is from September, 1983, not that that matters.

Not your mistake - the (original) seller was hawking that thing on eBay forever, and claims that's when he took delivery, despite what the factory logs state. Guess his memory is better than the present sense impression made in the books back then... :D

Is that the bound body with a trem (Kahler?) on it black Vector?

Posted

Factory logs say its black with a Floyd.

I'll have to check the date. #0663 was from 9/83, but that one could have been anywhere between late 1982 and the end of 1983-delivery of four digits was nowhere near sequential that far along (Nielsen's "Gonna Raise Hell" is an 82 & numbered 0658!)

Good Morning.

I went to Makin yesterday and was told that I could not take any photos, if someone was interested they should call or email makin directly.

Kind of lame..

sorry

I viewed that one enough when it was on ebay. The guy seem like a wacko, and the guitar to me didn't seem worthy of the 4 digit it was stamped with. I'm still waiting to see an actual 4 digit V in person. The photo's i've seen of them are badass. That would be my dream guitar.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo account. The store is very quick with replying as I know at least one other person who got the pics. I will also forward them if you want. Guitar is unbound which seems unusual for a 4 digit. The OFR is a non-fine tuner which is cool, Brad Gillis prefers those and is a premier whammyist.

Get the pics and judge for yourself. I have decided it is not what I want in a Vector.

Black Vector = COOL

Floyded = not for me.

Would love to see the pictures though.

You can attach them in the thread.

No need for a photo account.

If it is indeed a 1982, and if it came with a Floyd originally, it wouldn't have the fine tuners.

Posted

Actually, in 1982, Floyds didn't have fine tuners. The "OFR"s were not actually the "original" Floyd Roses. I've had one or two of the early ones. There's one w/o fine tuners in the 1982/3 photo spread catalog flyer with the Cheap Trick backline behind the Hamer lineup.

$2700 for that equals EPIC FAIL

Knock $1400 off and it's a little more sensible...

Personally, that does absolutely nothing for me. Have at it...

Okay, knock off $1700 and it's gettin' closer to sensible.... ;)
