Feynman Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 In order to celebrate my progress so far in the 2013 Challenge, I'd like to buy myself a guitar. I'm looking for a white/rosewood Strat, preferably HSS, and preferably a nice one. Something like a Suhr C1 or S1 comes to mind, but others may contend. I think this modest reward will encourage me to keep doing well on my resolution.
Sparky Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Isn't that like going to the casino buffet to celebrate losing 10 lbs?
Ting Ho Dung Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I'm totally confused now. Buy a guitar on a "Buy No Guitar Challenge." You are doing so good you want to reward yourself? I haven't jacked off in a few days since someone told me it was dangerous to my health. I'm ready for my reward now. Too. I need a razor and glasses.

veatch Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Check out Don Grosh Guitars (Louisville, CO). He makes some seriously cool stuff as well...Edited to add linky-poo => http://groshguitars.com/
ArnieZ Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I'd like to help. Allow me to buy the guitar for you so you don't have to lose the challenge! Yeah right! ArnieZ
Feynman Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Thanks, ArnieZ!i've pretty much decided to limit the search to a White Beck Strat (again), so if you have already bought something else for me, just keep it.
veatch Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Egad. I prefer Em7-G-Am-D... Not a fan of that pickguard, but TA makes some good shtuff....
velorush Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 An Olympic White version of my favorite Strat, the '62 Vintage Hot Rod Reissue (what a mouthful!) is available. Didn't like the 57/62 pickups, but the neck is dreamy! But wait! You've already bought and sold at least one just like that, haven't you?
Feynman Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Yeah, I've had a Hot Rod 62, a JB, a Melancon, an EJ, four Daytonas, a CS Wildwood '60, and a CS '69, but I don't have a problem or anything. Stil, Mint on Oly White is aesthetic perfection, and the Hot Rod wins that award. I just really don't seem to like bent saddles and hum (and I am unable to make myself mod guitars from stock). The JB is just about Strat perfection for me.The JB was my favorite, so I think this little incentive will ensure my success in the Challenge.
django49 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I seem to prefer G & L "Strats"....Oops, maybe that is because I have two to sell.......I don't have a problem or anything either!
Feynman Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 By the way, I blame anotherfreak for all of this. I'm going to go make a note in the Challenge thread.
anotherfreak Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I was gonna' bring up the Jeff Beck, but it didn't have the bridge 'bucker....... Blame me all you want, I didn't "make" you discuss how cool Strats are or why we buy them for asthetics  I shoulda' picked up yer EJ strat, maybe I'll get a chance on a JB I luv ya cuz ya gots good taste
