mail4kev Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Sweeeetttt! Thanks Jay! Amazing as usual. Now to sort out the logistics and get it back home!
murkat Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 TY everyone. cloudy, overcast day... So I did not get the full effect of the maple top popping out in waves After repairing & filling some body dings, binding miss haps, etc. Then wet sanded and buffed and polished, man, it really popped. maybe a shot or two during the sunset.... mmmmm....
mail4kev Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I'll let you keep it till you manage to get good pics of it.
atquinn Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Rocking! Thinking about sending in my Floyded Studio for some similar lovin' Jumbo frets are sooo nice!-Austin
tbonesullivan Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 looks awesome! and i'm sure it plays awesome.Would it have been easier to have the frets cut back just a little from the edge? I've never had a guitar refretted, so I'm ignorant about these things. I know that standard procedure when refretting a bound neck where the binding is added after the frets is to shave off the nibs and extend the fret over the binding, like I believe Martin Guitars does.
murkat Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 " Would it have been easier to have the frets cut back just a little from the edge?"I recieve requests to do what was applied. No diff from Kev on this one.frets to the end, almost straight up, the rounded.widens the feel.for whatever reason that they requested it to be for.
Hamer Dave Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I prefer them to the edge myself. I just hate when they are over beveled. Just me, and if Jackson USA, and other great builders do it... Then they must agree. I always find myself widening string spacing when given the chance (i.e. new nut, or saddles). Then again, I'm nearly 6'6", and have longer fingers I suppose. d
