rugby1970 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I have one of these on my Studio. Can someone please explain how they work? I see adjustment on the G and B strings only. Kind of dazed and confused here. Thanks in advance.
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The allen key bolts in the slots are for getting the other 4 strings 'near the mark' I'd Imagine. 'Near the mark' is NOT good enough IMO so I'd bin this one & buy another TOM-type bridge...
cynic Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The two set screws allow for the same level of intonation as the typical lightning bolt style wrap-around. The slider under the G/B allows for a greater level of adjustment for those particular strings. You can also find them with an additional slider under the A/D strings.
bubs_42 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Personally if I had another wrap tail Studio, i'd change that bridge out in a heartbeat. IMHO a tone killer.
Hbom Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Personally if I had another wrap tail Studio, i'd change that bridge out in a heartbeat. IMHO a tone killer. I plan to change mine out when you start making/selling new sustainblocks.
Andrew Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I love Hamer. You all know that. But possibly the stupidest thing they ever did was to use this fucking useless Wilkinson bridge.
RichRS6 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 What Cynic said.No useful insights tone wise here but if you want to set it up..........I would get the top and bottom E's right using the small grub screws at the rear then use the sliding part to set up the B and G as close as possible.

veatch Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 What Chris said. If you really want to keep the bridge, what rich said.
rugby1970 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Any suggestions for a replacement/upgrade that doesn't require any new holes? I didn't expect this thread to go in this direction but what the hell?
Hbom Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I'm using the Pigtail, I like it real well.http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar,_non-trem_bridges/Pigtail_Aluminum_Wraparound_Bridge.html
cynic Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 If you want adjustable saddles get the pigtail home suggests, if not, get the Faber compensated cmattthes recommended.
